I'm experiencing similar symptoms to a lot of other people, but no common fixes have worked. It started with removing the headphones disabled all sound, restored on restart, then one day it didn't come back. Then a month later, with a recent Windows Update it came back, for *one* day, and on restart it stopped working again. I've scoured the internet with no success. :ermm:
1) This is what the tray looks like:
2) I have checked Device Manager, uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, and rolled back all relevant drivers, from all the appropriate sources, including HPs website and IDTs official drivers, 100 times. This is the current status:
3) I followed the fix on another thread with no luck:

I don't know if the fact that I have my user profile designated to a drive other than C:, so other than that I don't know what else might be relevant.
4) I tried removing all recent updates, and having Windows install them again to see if it would re-trigger the random fix; it didn't.
I've spent hours on hours trying to solve the problem and I've run out of ideas. Someone please help.
