Hi everybody! I have to reloaded Pantone ColorVision SpyderPro Optical 3.7 and PhotoCal 2.7 old software. It was working on my Dell E520 OS Vista home prmium and monitor SyncMaster 2253BW for many years with no problem. Before reinstallation deleted all installed file and folders, removed from registry all previous data, rebut comp and downloaded from CD fresh installation, rebut comp, connected optical sensor and tried to setup calibration. I click on Optical icon and I got box with message: Error occurred while saving the preferences file. Error 5 (preferences file. Cpp294) access denied. ‘End program or look for problem on internet.’ When I closed program I got one by one boxes with errors the only different in preferences files ccp166, ccp237, ccp104, ccp380.! How to fix these problems?
Any Help I appreciated!!!

Laptop Randomly Shuts Off at opening of game

I have a Lenovo Y460p and it's been randomly shutting off whenever I get into game. Whenever it shuts off, it's like pulling the plug on a Desktop computer, it blanks out and doesn't restart or have crash logs, etc.

I've done my research etc, I've been having a problem, I know it's not overheating. The CPU is normally at 50 C or so and the GPU never passes around 60 C or so.

Even if I let the computer sit overnight and then I turn on the computer, it's fine when using Facebook, etc, I can have multiple tabs, spotify, iTunes, etc open without any slow down or issues.

So for example, the game I play is League of Legends, and the client functions fine, and the game will load in, but as soon as the game starts (I normally tab out of the game and browse the internet while I wait for the game to load), I tab in and almost 4 seconds later it crashes. I haven't had this problem before until just recently.

I'm running a 120W charger on my laptop, so I don't think the power input could be the issue. I have a dead battery also, so I've tried to run the game with and without the battery, and the result is the same.

*edit* forgot to mention my graphics driver is up to date.

Any ideas as to what it may be?

win7 sp1 OS; toshiba laptop:
1. Solve PC issues says: solution: troubleshoot problem with hard disk - IP helper (stopped working), Windows Event Log (stopped working).....when I go to download the solution it says: solution couldnt be downloaded - make sure computer is connected to internet and try again later. IT IS CONNECTED TO INTERNET! so what do I do?

2. was watching a dvd thru Windows Media Player - suddenly stopped and reverted back to the desktop - why?

3. had numerous problems with startup - will boot to the screen - start win normally, safe mode etc. or will ask if I want to run startup repair.

Have done all these things, run malware, virus, etc (all that stuff), but computer is still acting very weird. have tried starting safe/networking and running all the programs; have cleaned everything (disk, cache, temps etc), and everything I know.

but still, 2 out of 3 times, I have problems starting it up. can anyone help me with these please, or give me an idea whats going on?

is my hard drive failing???? and if so, what do I do - can laptop HD be replaced and what cost? this computer is only 4 yrs old!

thanking in advance,

kat

Windows 7 update and iTunes errors.

I have been unable to download Microsoft updates for quite some time. I get the following error codes 80040154 and 80070BC9. Also, I tried to update iTunes the other day and it failed. I have been unable to use iTunes since, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. I get the following message when trying to install: 'Microsoft.VC80.crt.type ="Win32".version ="8.0.50727.6195" PublicKey token ="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b". processorArchitecture ="amd64". HResult:0x8007054F. After the install failed and I tried opening iTunes i got this message: CMBlockBuffer CopyDataBytes could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll. I have utilized this site through the virus and malware threads and unfortunately none of the fixes worked. I have tried Microsoft Fix It and that won't work. System restore will not restore to a prior date. I have tried the sfc /scannow and it won't complete. Please help I am going insane!

Laptop - Forgot Administrator Password / Can't update

My sister got a laptop a year or so ago with Windows 7 Professional installed on it. I set it up and they are able to use it but I don't know what the administrator password is. This means they can't install any programs or updates or even update there browser, as it asks for admin password to do any of these things.

I was wondering if the only way to sort this out would be to re install Windows 7 or not?

The Windows licence sticker has rubbed away so I can not see the licence number. How would I retrieve it?

I have a CD copy of Windows 7 Home edition that I used for my PC install x amount of years ago. Could I use this to install onto the laptop? and then, could I use the retrieved licence.

Because it's different versions of Windows I wasn't sure if it would work or not.

Also if there is another way without having to reinstall everything that would probably be the better option.

Thanks.

Computer Randomly Shut Off, Now Sound Doesn't Work

Hello!

Today, my computer randomly just shut off, as if the battery was unplugged. When I turned it back on, the sound was not working.

Troubleshooting showed the drivers to not be working. In inspecting the driver properties, there was the message, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I tried restarting it, to no avail. I tried deleting and re-downloading the audio drivers. When I tried to delete the Realtek driver in the Control Panel, the installscript crashed (I was able to uninstall other things with no problem). I managed to get around this by deleting it through device manager (the installscript still gave me a crash message, but after the driver was uninstalled). The Intell Display Audio driver uninstalled without an issue.

I re-downloaded and installed the drivers. It still didn't work.

I went into the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet2\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and deleted UpperFilters (there was no LowerFilters). I restarted my computer. Still the sound doesn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This problem was originally posted in the Security section,

http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ml#post6531433

on the basis it might be malware, Tech specs of the machine are listed at the beginning. The evolution of the problem shows throughout, but in the end,

the machine will not boot up, or start in safe mode, startup repair cannot find a problem. Details shown in the last post there.

What other things can I do ?

Computer cannot connect to wireless network, everything else can

Hi, so my Windows 7 computer cannot connect to the local wireless network. We've had it for a long time and there have been few problems with it, and every other device in the house (phone, laptop, tablet) can connect fine. I concluded the problem must be something to do with the computer as opposed to the modem in this case.

I performed a factory reset on the computer which did not work, then sent it to the manufacturer for repair, but that didn't work either. Any advice?

Lost Windows Update after installing Windows 10 and then rolling back to W7

This one has me really stumped!

I installed free Windows 10 yesterday and, after using it for a while, decided that I don't like it so I rolled back to Windows 7 by re-imaging to an image I saved just before installing W10. I immediately noticed that Windows Update would no longer work. After a lot of searching, I found that Background Intelligent Transfer Service was missing. It was not in my services. I tried everything I could find in various forums with no luck. Windows Update worked right up until the I installed W10.

I finally found a MS article on how to put BITS back and it worked. I then checked it's dependencies and made sure they were there and working but Windows Update still wouldn't work.

I then re-imaged back to an image 5 weeks old and BITS doesn't show up there either even though it definitely worked back then. That was a mystery since my PC should have been re-imaged to exactly how it looked back in June.

Thinking I might have a bad sector on my drive, I ran Disk Check with the option chosen to repair anything it finds that is wrong. I also ran sfc /scannow. No luck.

I'm at loss to explain this let alone fix it. I found lots of threads where other people lost BITS but not when they had just installed W10 and then rolled back to W7. Nothing I found has worked and I'm at my wits end at this point.

This all started with the W10 install but I don't know how my old images could be affected.

I can usually fix any PC problem - sometimes with a little help - but this one really has me stumped. I may reinstall W10 to see if Windows Update works then but I really don't like W10. I would like to get my W7 fixed.

Samsung S5 phone micro sd card format for 64 gbs ?

I was told at Staples that Kingston Micro SDHC/SDXC Card, Class 10 UHS-I, 64GB would work for Samsung S5 phone.

Item 1265935

Model KC-C2264-2V

So I bought it since it was on sale.

When I plugged in the micro sd card to a hi capacity adapter with usb to Windows 7 computer, it shows it formatted already as ExFat format here-

Attachment 248769

My question is Samsung S5 compatible in ExFat format or Fat32 when I read or write with micro sd card inside the slot of Samsung S5 ?
Should I format it to Fat32 or it won't format as Fat32 when using 64 Gbs?

I know the previous Kingston sd card I had was 32 gbs and was Fat32 format
which worked.

Thanks

Problems with changed drive letter

After running out of space in my old drive (W:) I decided to replace it with a new larger drive with the letter renamed (G:). This has been fine for the most part with anything from downloading, installing programs and more. However today while trying to install Solidworks the installation failed, saying that it could not find W: drive. Is there some way to fix this?
