Acronis OS Loader

Hey everyone. A few years back I used to have xp, then upgraded to 7. At the time I needed to switch between the two OS systems to access some files and what not. Well I do not have access to xp anymore at all and therefor do not need the OS Loader anymore, however when I unistalled acronis and deleted the files the OS loader part of acronis stayed. I cannot seem to find a way to skip it or anything when I boot up my computer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
ps: I tried installing Acronis again earlier today to mabye find a route through the actual program but that is a no go because 1) The version I previously had is a version that is no longer made and 2) I installed the original program on xp which means it is 32 bit and my windows 7 is 64 so there is that incapatibility error.
All thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi All,

I have a Windows 10 computer with a few Hyper-V Vm's running on it, to make it easier when I'm not in the office rather than teamviewering into my computer or remoting into it, I thought I would just install RSAT on windows 7 and try and connect to my Windows 10 Hyper-V Server but unfortunately it just tells me "The operation on the computer '...' failed." (Where I have ... is the computer name of my Windows 10 computer - it even finds it if I use the browse option from the network.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Solid State v Spinner

Hi all,
Just a quick question - this isnt important etc but

I have an old netbook which I use in my place of work (at lunch times lol) to code my website (Boeing 787 Register - Welcome) I have obtained through my own upgrades at home etc a solid state 120gb Corsair Force.

The machine is running windows 7 64 bit on a 320gb hdd, the used space with all the applications I use and the website testing area is less than 50gb.

My thoughts are to - speed up the netbook and give it bettter battery life by cloning the disk from the current spinning disk to the ssd, and this gives me a good 320gb disk to use as an archive drive.

or should i not bother?

Error parsing & MMC could not create snap-in

Hello,

I'm getting 2 errors:
  1. Parse error pop-up at seemingly random times
  2. "MMC could not create the snap-in" when trying to view the Event Viewer

I've tried uninstall/reinstall Microsoft.NET framework 4.5.2 - didn't help.
I've also tried Add/Remove Snap-in and console root is the only one selected.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Ethernet not working!

Hello, i have a desktop computer which used to get internet from a secondary router we had. It is a Jensen Scandinavia. One day when i logged onto my computer i noticed i had no internet, and it hasnt returned since that. It shows a yellow exclamition point by the internet icon, and says no internet Access. My secondary router Works fine With everything else than my computer, both wifi and Ethernet. Of all Electronics we have in the house, its only my computer who doesnt work. I have a cable that goes from my main router and to the secondary router, if i stretch that into my room it will allow me to get internet Access, so the problem isnt my main router. My Ethernet port on the computer is blinking green some times aswell, but i get no firm Connection. I also do not have a default Gateway.

Additional info: when my internet stopped working, i looked into my Device manager and found pseudo tunneling Interface With a yellow exclamition mark. I uninstalled it in hope that it would be reinstalled and making my computer work aagain, but it didnt get reinstalled ;(

Ty for the help, much appreciated.

Pantech UML290 connection issues?

0

I have a Panasonic CF-30 ToughBook running Windows 7 Profession that I got from work. It only has one USB drive when it's in the docking station, so I bought a J5create 4-port hub from BestBuy to give me more USB ports since the one that it has is always going to be taken up with the Verizon Pantech UML290 internet card that we have to use. So if I have to plug in a flash drive or something to my computer, I would have to disconnect my internet card, which I can't do while I'm working.

Anyways, the Pantech UML290 card works fine when it's plugged straight into the computer, however when I plug the J5create hub into the computer and plug the UML290 into that, the computer recognizes the card and it says all firmware installs successfully, but the network icon still reads "No Internet Access". I know it's not the hub or the card because this computer I'm on now is running Windows 8 and I hooked the hub up to this computer and then the UML290 to that and this computer will connect to the internet. It's just that computer that it doesn't work on for some reason. Any ideas if there's any settings I need to change in order for it to work?

Cloning Windows7 to a new Laptop

Hello

I'm currently running an old Dell Laptop with Windows 7 32 bit, but it's showing its age and so I have recently bought a better spec laptop which I would like to use instead. It's 3 years old and so comes with a Windows 7 licence.

I've spent a long time configuring my current laptop and so instead of starting from scratch with the new laptop, I would simply like to clone the hard drive from the old machine to the new, so I end up with an identical setup.

Now I've done this very successfully in the past with Windows XP, 2K and earlier versions. I simply do an image copy of the old hard drive to the new drive and then try booting it in the new machine.

What usually happens is the new pc then crashes with a blue screen because of course the chipset and drivers are all different etc. So I then insert the Windows installation cd and do a 'repair'. This reloads all the drivers and you end up with a perfectly working cloned machine which retains all the additional working software.

My question is... does anyone know if this approach still works with MS Windows 7?

Thanks

i have windows 7. and i have tried twice to let it upgrade to windows 10 and each time it crashed and i had to reinstall 7 from the beginning. is there a way from blocking it from asking me to to upgrade. I select the Update for for Microsoft Windows (KB3035583) update and delete it but it comes back every time i check for up dates. so i hid the update but it does the same thing. i wouldn't mind getting the update but for some reason its not working on my alienware R3 machine. i read some where to get it to work i would have to manually restart the machine during the upgrade. but i dont want to go through that hassle

Fresh Install, Slow Startup

0
0
Hi. I have a fresh install of W7 Pro 64-bit on an SSD. I've gotten my applications installed and now I am having slow startup issues.

After the Windows 7 splash screen I am displayed a 'Please Wait...' screen for ~20 seconds. The event viewer shows that the service WMI is taking 20 seconds to start.

I tried 'Winmgmt /salvagerepository' and this hotfix: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2617858. But the issue persists.

Any ideas?

Help! Weird "Windows version Not Authentic" Issue

Help! Weird "Windows version Not Authentic" Issue

I was having another issue (unfunctional web browsing) and, after extensive unsuccessful troubleshooting, decided to eliminate the hard drive as the cause of it. I had three identical Seagate 80gb sata hard drives. One them (#2) was in the boot (0.0) position and one (#1) was in position 0.1 as a back up. A third (Drive #3) was used externally with a usb 2.0 to sata/ide hd adapter cable.

So confusion ensued when I tried the test by replacing the HD in position 0.0 while leaving a HD in 0.1 so I decided to test each HD separately as the only HD installed in the computer.

HD #3 was tried first. The browsing issue was mostly solved but occasionally returned at inconvenient times. I cloned the contents of that drive to both #1 and #2. When I tried #2, browsing was as unfunctional as always. The real crunch came with #1.

Cloning was performed with Easus TOD Backup on a CD. Everytime I booted up a cloned copy I had to restore the boot manager
with the Win 7 installation disk (with "repair" or with the command prompt).

When I try to boot up HD#1 I get the usual Windows "Welcome" and then the page where I enter my password. Then a get a message saying, "Peparing Desktop." It runs for a long time. Then I get a totally blue screen with a little message that says "This copy of Windows is not genuine."

My windows 7 Home Premium setup disc came with my Dell Optiplex GX620 desktop. The computer was a refurbished one and the disc says "For Refurbished PCs." There is a COA sticker on the machine with the usual key number. The OS has been in use for several years without any problem. In troubleshooting this problem I have reinstalled the OS from the disk without a hitch several times each time using the key successfully.

I have looked for an answer on the web, finding the issue is not unique. But the fix often assumes the availability of the OS to implement but I can't get any further into the OS than the blue screen. Other posts merely suggest a battery of tests or questions suggesting the poster has no clue as to what is going on. I simply can't understand why two of three drives --all presumably carrying the identical, cloned OS -- boot normally while one of them says it is not genuine.

I would like to get past that "not genuine" issue so I can test that HD.

I am also considering upgrading by obtaining a SSD drive, if that is feasible.

Can't boot up PC. Error 0xc00000e9

Here's what happened:

I was playing a game on my laptop (specifically Hearthstone) when my computer started freezing. After about five minutes of it freezing and unfreezing, and then finally crashing to a blue screen, I restarted the computer. I was frustrated, but this didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary.

Upon startup, it took me to the "starting Windows" screen, accompanied with the Windows logo. After about 3 minutes of sitting and staring at this screen, I angrily restarted it again. It had been a long day and I had had enough. (As I say this, I spent 30 minutes typing this up on my phone only for my web browser to crash.)

I was a little aggressive with it this time, and banged on the keyboard a bit. I noticed a bit of a clunky noise, though, so I froze and let it do its thing. Instead of starting up correctly, it took me to this screen:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose Start Windows Normally.

Launch Startup Repair (recommended)

Start Windows Normally

Description: Fix problems that are preventing Windows from starting"

Selecting the first option, Launch Startup Repair, takes me to a screen that says "Windows is loading files..." with a loading bar underneath it that fills up about two-thirds of the way, and then takes me to this screen:

"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.

Status 0xc00000e9

Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred."

Selecting the second option, "Start Windows Normally", takes me to the "Starting Windows" screen, but this time without a logo. After maybe 15 seconds, it takes me to the "Windows is loading files..." screen, which then takes me back to the 0xc00000e9 screen.

I restarted my computer a bunch of times, and when that didn't work, I Googled my problem; however, I'm ashamed to admit that I have no idea how computers work. Most of the terminology used in these solutions went completely over my head.

That aside, I tried what I could decipher - the first thing I tried was taking the battery out and putting it back in after 10 or 15 minutes. Didn't work. Next I tried hitting F2 upon starting the computer up. I messed around with the priorities but nothing helped. Lastly, I hit F8 and tried starting the computer in safe mode with command prompt, but it took me to the "Windows is loading files..." screen with the incomplete bar, which then sent me to the 0xc00000e9 error screen.

What do I do? Is my laptop toast? Did I maybe knock something loose when I got rough with it?

For the record, I have a Vaio VPCEB with Windows 7.

3Tb external wd hard disk has become uninitialized + unallocated

Hi there,

A friend of mine wanted some data from my Windows 7 desktop pc and brought over a laptop hard disk which she assured me was empty. So,I plugged it in a usb port. I also have an external 3 tb hard disk in a Startech seat plugged in a usb. When her disk came on it showed that she had windows Vista on it. Of course I was angry, but I thought I could format
her disk to get rid Vista. It dis get rid of Vista, and I gave her the data she wanted.

Then I booted my pc and now my 3tb external disk does no show up in My Computer, and in Computer Management it shows up as Not Initialized and with 746.52 Unallocated space. I have over 2tb of data on this disk. I ran Testdisk and stopped when I got to this:

Disk/dev/sdc - 3000 GB/2794 GiB - CHS 364801 255 63
Partition Start End Size in sectors
>P MS Data 262206 1565550314 1565288109
P MS Data 1565550592 5860530175 4294979584

Below this it says Structure: OK

As well as up/down keys to select partion
Keys A: Add Partition, L:n Load Backup, T: Change Type, P: List Files
Enter: to continue
NTFS, blocksize=4096, 801 GB / 746 GiB

It is here where I don't know what to next. (I really don't want to lose my data, but does that prospect not look good?)

I think it was Jumanji who I was reading yesterday who suggested to someone else to use Testdisk. Sorry if i made any mistakes posting images (this is my first time).
