Hello, first time posting and from a iPad second gen because my laptop took a big old poopy on me. So please be nice. All started after the computer froze then finally was shut off. Woke up next day tried to start my trusty laptop and boom. Errors. Here's what I got.

so I clicked on the diagnostic and repair and I got this...

Then it also says read our privacy something...
Moving forward. This is pretty much where I'm at. It tried spamming F8 and disabling auto restart on failure and it didn't change. I've tried just running it normal mode. Does not get past Windows loading screen after start up. I tried running the repair and that's how I found all the stuff posted above. I've also tried safe mode and I freezes. I'm stuck and can't figure it out. Anyone have any suggestions that might help me fix this issue?
p.s I'm going to work and won't be back till about 2am (pcf timezone -8:00)
Thank you.

VLC and Autoplay problem!

Hi guys,

I currently have VLC installed and wish to play a DVD, once I have inserted my disk and the Autoplay pop up appears, once I have selected VLC the box disappears and nothing opens, I have checked in task manager, VLC doesn't even attempt to open.

I can open VLC first from C: and it works fine and I can open the disk and play it from there, but I need the Autoplay to work.

I have also set all video/audio types in Autoplay in control panel to use VLC.

Any help would be appreciated!

All Windows Update

Hi Guys,

In my organisation, we do network boot installations, and once we install all our software we run windows update to get all the new updates. This is a long and continuous process, but besides updating the service pack on the server, is there a way to have all the recent updates on a USB Key and just install from there?

The base machines are the same so all updates are the same and seems an awful waste of bandwidth to be getting constant updates

TIA
Dave

windows explorer crashed, now my documents doesnt work properly

hi guys ive got a little problem for you

about a week ago windows explorer crashed, i wasnt doing anything different than i usually do.
since then its been behaving well oddly, for example when i go into my documents to begin with everything seems fine, but after abit of browsing about going to downloads, music, videos etc i find at the bottom it just says 20 items and if i select one it says one item selected instead of the file details.
no preview is displayed on the right.
on the left it should show the folder options tree instead ive got from top to bottom. favourites, desktop, libraries, documents, pictures and homegroups all with magnifying glasses over them.

i also noticed if i go into downloads, the green bar that goes across at the top to load the page starts off ok then gets slower as it goes across, its gets so far then stops altogether.

i know this sounds odd, but i dont know how else to describe the problem, ive tried looking for answers but ive got nowhere.

everything else is fine and works ok, i can even play the videos or look at pictures etc

thanks for your help

Stuck on checking for updates after installing SP1

Hi

Just reformatted my HD and reinstalled W7 64bit. Doing all the updates from the Windows Update tool and after installing about 40 updates and SP1 and trying for the next load of updates it is just stuck on checking for updates.

I haven't any AV installed yet and have tried a few things in the last hour such as running Microsofts own tool and a couple of reg fixes and nothing.

Can anyone advie what i can do?

Thanks

[SOLVED] Programs wont connect to internet

0
0
I was playing about with proxy settings on my computer using proxifier and freecap. All was ok until I decided to stop, so I closed them etc etc. Now programs wont connect to the internet, but I can fix it by manually going into the program settings and setting the proxy to no proxy. But obviously, some programs dont have this option so the only other option I see is to reinstall them, but there are too many programs to do this for. So if anyone can help solve this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Also, I've noticed it seems to be just limited functionality for some programs. I.E, I can log in on steam, but I cant load any pages or any pictures in my games list. The same goes for spotify, I can load songs, but no pictures or lyrics etc.

How do I change from Wifi to LAN and vice versa using Windows 7 ?

Is there a short cut I can put on desktop to change the connection, so I don't have to go to control panel each time I wish to change the mode of connection ?

Thanks

Hi

Plugging in a USB pen drive gets me the recognition sound and says the software is installed, but is not in my computer using W7.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled USB Mass Storage and still the same.
In computer management it appears, and I assigned a letter, but it still doesn't appear in my computer. Any ideas?

Thanks

Problems caused by Critical Updates

A friend of mine is having trouble with her computer, and it's beyond my expertise to find a solution.

She was playing Skyrim when Windows decided to interrupt and restart to install a Critical update. After booting, random processes, Windows included would stop responding for nearly 3 minutes at a time. Restarting didn't help, and these freezes were occurring every 2 minutes.

She tried a rollback to a previous update but it didn't help, and only BSOD'ed when she got to the desktop. She undid the rollback, and is back to the intermittent freezing. She restarted in safe mode and had some colored lines appear on her monitor. I thought that it was a driver problem so I had her roll-back her video drivers, which stopped the lines only for a bit.

She describes these lines as colorful static. And she's repeatedly tried to restore but the process has gradually taken longer to do.

having issues with the sleep/hibernate function

added sleep so that the Win 7 computer can be manually placed into sleep mode. Thing is sometimes when I hit the power button instead of the thing saying resuming windows I get the message that the computer was not shut down correctly and to START windows. Doesn't sleep but seems to "crash". This can happen when I manually do a sleep request from the start menu or when it does its' own after inactivity.

UEFI and MBR disks on same system

I am getting ready to build a new rig, and have a question about UEFI (GPT) disks getting along with normal MBR disks.

I want to install windows on an nVme M.2 Samsung 951, which I understand I will need to set up with UEFI. The question is, this rig will have 4 HDDs and 2 other SSDs in addition to the M.2 drive, and they are all currently set up using MBR. Will I be able to continue to use them set up using MBR when the boot drive is set up using GPT?

I hope that made sense :)

Thanks in advance.

Crash, BSOD, freeze

My PC freezes, restarts, crashes, hangs and sometimes BSOD. Based on my observation, it happens quite randomly. I can play games but sometimes it just freezes. When it freezes sometimes it produces a loud weird static sound.Sometimes it just freezes a few minutes after startup. And it also froze in BIOS while I was checking what's wrong. What could be the cause of this? PSU maybe?

i memtested all 3 of my RAMs and theyre all good at 4 passes.

ECS mobo

PC slows down to a crawl; screen freeze

My computer has been freezing from time to time and gets very slow. I have Vipre Antivirus program and
spybot. When it freezes, I manually shut down, restart, then run Spybot, tell them to fix the problems, then restart with a Disk error checking scan. The computer seems to run well for a week, sometimes less. I have run a Root Scan with no problems found.

My computer is
ASUS Desktop PC CM6850 Series
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz
RAM 12.0GB
64-Bit Operating System
Windows is activated
Product ID: 00359-OEM-8992687-00118

Spybot found errors, I don't have a clue what they mean, but one I looked up is sdfssvc.exe error. Symptoms sounded something like I've been experience. Would you recommend running that repair tool?
