Some time between May and July of this year, my 3 year old Toshiba Satellite L755D-S5171 started having some browsing issues. I'm running windows 7 service pack 1.
When I attempt to load a site it will most often load only part of the page and take too long. Examples: everything loads except the all/some images, ONLY plain text and images load with no structure, or everything loads except embedded videos. Pages frequently fail to load at all. Even when pages load flawlessly they tend to take much longer than they should. This behavior shows up on and off every day. I have to refresh a page anywhere between 3-40 times to get it to load properly. My laptop is the ONLY computer on the home network to have this problem, and it occurs in ANY browser, even the Steam client browser. It happens on both the ethernet and wifi connections. I've even had an uninterrupted video call on skype while having this issue, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the connection. As far as I can remember, I made no significant changes to my computer to prompt this problem to arise.
Things I have tried that WORK:
-restarting my modem/router AND my laptop at roughly the same time
only tried this a few times but it makes my internet work flawlessly for up to one day
-booting in safe mode with networking
in safe mode I can browse the internet perfectly!! So this must mean something running on my computer is interfering with my ability to load websites, right? This fixes the problem until I restart normally
Things I've tried that did NOT WORK:
-loading a restore point
-disabling firewall
-switching to openDNS from my isp's DNS, then switching to GoogleDNS
-disabling IPv6
-temporarily uninstalling my antivirus (ESET)
-unplugging my modem/router and plugging it in again (as noted above this helps if I also restart my computer, strangely)
-running Malwarebytes. Located and removed some i-beta.com garbage but that's it
-flushing DNS cache
-releasing/renewing IP as administrator. I usually get an error when I try this but when I did it just now to see the error again I didn't get it? Anyway the problem still persists
I'm probably forgetting some other things I've attempted over the months. I'm willing to try pretty much anything but I will only do a clean install of windows if it's somehow the only option. Do any of you fine folks have advice?
