Hello i had some startup error 0xc000000f and couldnt start windows normaly, so i used my win7 cd and repaired that, after that it started normaly, but after 1-2 min i got BSOD, pc restarted, everything started normaly again but now after 10-15 sec BSOD again, repeated 2-3 times so i decided to format and install fresh win7, i dont have any important data on laptop so no problem with that. But when i tryed to install i got this (see pic) after only 2-3% of install tryed 2 more times same. Tryed formating from cmd (shift+f10) it went ok, but still can't install, again same. Now scaning my HD in bios, i though that may be problem. While i wait that i posted here, maybe someone know what could be problem? Thanks. And win7 DVD is fine.

Svchost.exe

Hi everybody :

I'm running Windows 7 / 32-bit. Using an Intel Core i3-3220 dual core processor. I got a notice (in task bar) of "High CPU Usage". I clicked the setting button, then went into details about this. Apparently, it's caused by svchost.exe. I downloaded the Svchost Viewer application. And it showed that I have 13 svchost(s) running a total of 55 services. Does this seem a lot, or is it normal.
Thanks,
garystan

Svchost hogging CPU

Hi there,
Will you please help with a maddening problem?
I run Vista home premium on a Compaq 6820S after a reinstall following a hd crash, using an iso from getintopcs.com (dodgy?)
Drivers were installed from HP.
Everything works, but performance is terribly sluggish due to almost 100% cpu usage by svchost.
Process Explorer shows the svchost running taskeng.exe to be the culprit. There are actually 2 instances of taskeng, one seemingly legit but access denied to the other.
Numerous malware scans came up clean.
Starting in safe mode shows normal CPU usage.
Prior to the HD crash there were no problems.
I'll attach a Hijackthis logfile, fwiw.
I'd appreciate any help tremendously.
Grateful thanks,
Martin.

Intel

Hi everybody :

Has anyone else heard of Intel's plan to "close up shop", and stop producing CPUs and Intel-based Motherboards ? I accidentally came across numerous websites confirming this. The general information is, that Intel plans on closing doors within a three-year period. With that scenario, that would only leave AMD as the ONLY source for CPUs. And AMD-based Motherboards.

Computer freezing all the time

Sorry if this is not the correct place to ask but I thought it might be since it's not a Windows problem...

Anywho, this computer I rarely go on it's more my parent's and they tell me everyday that it freezes completely when they're on it just doing basic things, on the internet etc. (it's not a network problem) So I try to unfreeze it by clicking ctrl+alt+del to try to enter task manager but even that doesn't work..nothing works except to manually shut it down and start it up again.

I know it's a bit of an old computer so my thought is maybe replace the processor or something?
I scan it regularly, no viruses/ no malware nothing. I clean it regularly as well, there is no dust, so I don't think those are the problems either.

But I am asking you guys if you could help me figure out what is causing the freezing and what I can do.
If parts need to be replaced, please let me know (I live in Canada)

Here are the computer specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2

Acer Aspire M1200
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30GHz
Memory(RAM): 2.00 GB
System Type: 32 Bit Operating System

If anymore information is needed let me know, I just got this from System Properties.

Thank you very much for your time and help :)

Mouse/Keyboard do not work when installing Windows 7

I recently added a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM to an already working system, and now, my mouse and keyboard do not work when in windows 7. They function normally in BIOS. Whether I select my drive with the windows installation on it or the DVD for installing Windows 7 (And remove that drive from the boot list, replacing with an empty drive, because I can't push a key on the "Push any key to boot from CD/DVD" screen), my mouse and keyboard stop functioning at the first dialog screen (login prompt and Language setup respectively).

I have tried the following:
Different mouse/keyboard
Different USB ports (I have SS, what appears to be usb2.0 because its black, USB 3.0, and a single USB 3.1 V2)
Switching on the Windows 7 installation mode in BIOS (supposed to resolve the missing driver for USB 3.0 issue for win7 installs)
Various other tinkering in BIOS

MoBo: MSI z170a M5
CPU: i5-6500
Ram: 4GB DDR4
PSU: 750W
Mouse: Razer Deathadder/Steelseries Kata
Keyboard: DasKeyboard Blue Cherry MX/Some keyboard that came with a Dell
GPU: 2X AMD 7850 HD Crossfire
Installed Windows: w7 Professional
Windows to be installed: w7 Home Premium

Startup Repair cannot repair this computer

Hello,

I discovered this website/forum after doing a google search for my problem. I've read a couple of threads but not sure if I need to do the same things that are listed in those threads and that's what has led me to start a new thread to get my problem resolved.

I was successful in doing a chkdsk and I think everything looked good there, but still have the same issue.

If someone could offer some guidance, it would be much appreciated. Not sure if the computer is toast, or if it still has life left in it...

ADS Instant HDTV PCI driver

Recently, my friend contacted me having troubles with the sound on her laptop not working.

Speakers play no sound and neither do headphones.

I walked her through some basic troubleshooting to see if I could fix it and nothing works.

No sound device is listed under the Playback Devices and the device is shown as "ADS Instant HDTV PCI" in device manager.

I cannot find any reliable information on this other than for Windows Vista and the only information I can find regarding that is that the drivers are packaged with Vista.

I tried updating the driver via Device Manager and Windows 7 states that the driver is up to date. I have tried scanning for Hardware changes and that does nothing.

I am worried about uninstalling the driver and trying to install a different driver as I am not sure if that would work.

The laptop is a SATELLITE L505D-LS5007. Before realizing that the sound device wasn't a normally seen device, I tried to have my friend install the sound driver from Toshiba's support site and that did not work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any specific information, please let me know and I will have her get it to me and post it here.

Thanks.

USB Problems :(

Hi,

I got some very annoying USB problems. My config:

Asus Z87 Deluxe
4770K CPU
16 GB DDR3
Corsair AX860i
Windows 7 64 bit

Problem:

When I connect and disconnect e.g. a USB stick or card reader, some other devices like an external USB HDD also disconnect (and reconnects immediately). I have removed all USB devices besides e.g. a memstick and an external HDD and plugged those in several USB slots, and still the problem remains on all USB's. This problem mostly happens when the HDD still has to spin up. It starts spinning up, disconnects and reconnects. However sometimes I do loose the USB connection while copying a bunch of files and I'm not plugging or pulling any device.

This is on ALL ports (USB2 and USB3, Intel USB and Third Party chip on the motherboard).

I had the same issue with my first Asus Z87 Deluxe board which I returned because that one also gave BSOD's so it was really faulty.

I have changed EVERYTHING (SSD, Memory, GPU, Audiocard (Asus Essence STX or Onboard), Mouse, Keyboard, PSU. The only part still the same is the CPU.

I never overclocked anything. I have set the powermanagement for USB to never power off (I even turned all sleep states off on the system as a test). I also cleared and updated the BIOS of the motherboard. I installed the latest drivers of both motherboard and USB.

So, since I replaced everything (even clean installed Windows 7 again), and this is the same issue as my first motherboard, I REALLY don't know where to look now.

Any help would be very welcome.

Windows Powershell

brand new computer - since beginning when starting it has "windows powershell has stopped working" blah, blah, blah. it puts 2 of the boxes up, I can select either debug or close in each, it shows up each time I startup the computer - hp desktop 700-055xt.

contacted hp - they've "done their thing" by tech support chat (remote too), and it still has this situation! only had this computer for a month or two. It replaced my hp envy 750-whatever, less than a year old - hard drive problem - was sent for repair twice.

this computer also is very slow, crashes, loses internet, and other problems. guess hp is getting cheap anymore....too bad.

anyway, thanks for any help here, I'm ready to get rid of this one and forget it altogether.:banghead:

Why are some programs on my OS to show Thai characters whilst others can.

Other Word documents are okay but some aren't. This specific one (see pic) worked on the last Windows I had.

Anyway, I hope someone can enlighten me as to what the cause of this is.
Thanks in advance.

System Upgrade

Hi everybody :

I WAS going to do another build, but my current System needs an upgrade. Currently, I'm using the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H Motherboard with Core i3-3220 CPU. Corsair 2GB RAM (2x2GB). Windows 7 Pro / 32-bit. Whenever I run Turbo Floor Plan 3D software (which is very graphic intensive), it uses an enormous amount of CPU. Sometimes causing a BSOD. In my research, I found out that this software does need a "larger" and faster CPU. The Motherboard I was looking at is the ASUS A88X-Pro, FM2+ ATX Motherboard. And the CPU..........AMD A10-7850K, 3.7 Ghz, Socket FM2+ (A-Series APU). And the RAM I was looking at is the Corsair Vengeance Pro,
PC3 17000 8Gb / 2x4Gb. This is where your advice comes into play. Would this be a good starter ? Of course, not leaving out the video card.

Computer Crash, AVG?

My sisters computer... Ever since I made it faster in performance with AVG, this new program randomly turns off the computer when using the computer. I have tried regular and safe mode... The removal tool and uninstalling the program manually through cmd and doing features/programs uninstall. If anything, there is not enough time to work on the computer to fix it before it randomly turns off!! I can't even install anything like revo uninstaller.
What can I do? Please tell me anything I can possible do to fix this. :P
