Hi TechSupport :

I'm having a problem, after a System Crash. I'm trying to download a rendering addon software for Sketchup (I already asked Google Sketchup, they can't come up with an answer). At first, the message said it can't be downloaded. Then it came up with this message. I'm not sure how to change the permissions. I am logged on as Administrator.

In the past three weeks, having not added any new software, Internet Explorer has become quite unstable. I will be working with it, often just reading info from e-mail or news items. IE will suddenly get very slow and then pop up a message "IE has stopped working. Search for problem and close or simply close." Thus only option is to close it. If the box does not pop up at other times the program simply freezes the computer. Mouse frozen, keyboard frozen. Requires cold start to unfreeze.

I run Norton and Malware Bytes pro daily. I have done this for years with no problems at all.

Not certain if this is a software problem or something in the hardware. The computer has become quite slow in the same time frame. Have defragged and hard drives are clean of crap.

Any ideas here to correct this?

Hello, I have a Compaq CQ58-309SQ Notebook PC (with windows 7 ultimate x64).
In some casses like when loading a map in CSGO or playing CSGO with Skype or even the game Sven coop, my audio (driver probably...) is crashing, I have found a fix for CSGO that work sometimes, but it keeps crashing.
I think is the Windows version fault because I dont find windows 7 drivers at the HP support.
I need some help with this.

Hello members, I'm starving to restore back the files into its original format and icon after trying to open one file which has caused this hectic work.
I thought it could be a malware and decided to backup the data before formatting the hard disk but after reinstallation the same idiot coming....till now can not open any file.

Please I request your needful support to restore back my files ...

I have a DVD recording of a PBS show for which I want to make a copy for a friend. I used to have a computer with Windows XP that had Nero software that could do this, but the software has compatibility issues with my new computer which runs Windows 7. Does anyone have a suggestion for a copy program? (I am not interested in copying commercial DVDs.) My only other choice is to dub the DVD onto tape then back again to DVD. I really don't like to do this because tape quality is not very good.

Working on a friends PC. WIn7 Ultimate SP1, Celeron E3400 @2.6ghz & 2gb RAM & 500GB HDD in 2 partitions.

The system was failing at boot. This was a simple change of memory socket on the motherboard fix. Discovered that Windows Update was disabled, looked further & found AVast Free was set to ridiculously low levels & UAC was disabled (oh & operating on an ADMIN account by default!) :facepalm: :sleep: :nono: - All corrected.

Due to all that, I looked deeper - The PC was over-run with PUP's & several viruses. I reset Avast levels & killed 2 viruses. ran MBAM & TDSSKiller & killed a crap load more. After this the PC stopped connecting to DNS (Network good, NO Internet). Fixed this with a series of TCP/IP & similar resets.

Win Update failed 3 times in a crashed or frozen PC (inl. 1xBSD), MS Fixit failed, so manually updated Windows Update Agent [version WIN7x86] from MS Support (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949104). Fixed issue.

Win update completed the first batch of updates successfully but stopped working on the second pass (freezing in the install process) & now won't even download, let alone update...

(oh & I Ran secunia PSI - All 3rd party progs updated)

Any help gratefully recieved as my "overnight updated run" after the physical fix, is threatening to pass into the third day. :cry:

Running Win7(spit), I have been re-arranging my folders and files, moving them arround onto various disk drives.

Now, suddenly ! I get an error message when I try to click on a folder that I've been working on !

WHY is this happening ?

AND... I also can't delete some files. This is MY computer; no-one else uses it. How can I stop this happening ?

Further... Using Macrium Reflect, will this grind to a halt, or will it just ignore these files & folders, leaving them un-backed-up ?

Hi , can anyone advise? my vista laptop recently hung at black screen with cursor after loggin in. when pressing ctrl-alt-del, can see "preparing your desktop" for a quick sec. Able to access via safe mode and have narrow down to this service "shell hw detection". when disabled this service, able to login normally.

Hello,
I am at my wits end. I don't understand why and I don't know when but I just realized over the last few days that when I boot into Windows 7 and run Windows 7 the speakers have no sound coming out of it. If I plug in HEADPHONES the sound comes though perfectly.
I DUAL BOOT with Linux Mint the sound is perfect and there is no problems with the speakers or headphones.
So I just decided to wipe my hard drive and restore a previous image, but I still have the same problem.
I have tried everything: I have uninstalled the connexant audio driver/device, and deleted all software associated with it and downloaded a fresh copy of the audio driver from lenovo, restarted etc... and doesn't work. I tried stopping the windows audio services and restarting and it doesn't work. I tried disabling the speakers, waited a while then enabled them and it still doesn't work.

I of course started with troubleshooting audio playback. Launched the troubleshooter and it said that it couldn't identify a problem. What I noticed though was that in the DETAILS (see attached picture) of the troubleshooting that it was troubleshooting the headphones and not the speakers. So it is recognizing the headphones and not the speakers.

I have been at this for hoursssss:banghead::banghead:
Once again, the sound works fine through Linux...
Help!

Hi everybody :

I need a new video card. My NVidia GT 610 died. I purchased one from TigerDirect. But, after researching it, I found out it's a "dual width" card. I went to NVidia.com compared the specs to both the GT610 and GT730.GT 730 : 2.7 W x 5.7 L Width : Dual Width.
GT 610 2.7 H x 5.7 L Width : Single Width.
I'm returning the GT 730 back to TigerDirect. I'm sure if they have a 'single-width" card. But, in case, does any know of a seller that carries single-width cards ?
After I installed the GT 730, I noticed that the back panel (where all the connections are made) was too wide for the IO panel.
I checked around a few sites, and they don't carry single-width cards. I think it might near impossible to find one. Much appreciation to anyone who knows of a seller for this type of video card. Thanks in advance.......garystan

So i found an old flashdrive that was holding an old game (copy from disc in case disc gets scracthes) and whenewer i try to extract it says i need everyones permissions, Yes im running admin account

Please help, game is old but its still good. Plus i did bought the disc so in my opinion its legal to make backup right?

Hi, is it ok to check 'Offline web pages'(40KB) and 'Hibernation File Cleaner'(1.74GB) to be deleted in Disk Cleanup? I have no idea what they are.
Also, is it advisable to check 'Compress this drive to save disk space'?

My PC as of late has been running awful. When I have a game running it'll run fine, however it's navigating the PC when say in a browser, or just copying files, or anything really outside running a game that is running horrible. I ran malwarebytes and did a scan and corrected, same with Housecall, was gonna do a CCleaner but I'm at the point where I'm fed up and just want it running smoothly. When I'm in firefox if I do something as simple as ctrl D to bookmark a page everything freezes. So I'm ready for a fresh start.

I'm going to find my Windows 7 disc after work and reformat. However I would like to backup important info. If I clone hdd to hdd it'll save everything and make the reformat pointless as far as I know. So that's not an option. I know how to copy/paste my picture files. That's easy.

How would I go about saving my steam game files so that my in game progress is erased? I have a 160gb internal hdd installed, I'm using a 1tb internal for os and everything. So I can use the 160. I also have an external 160gb hdd I can use.

I started to clone the hdd and quickly realized that's not my course of action. So after backing up my browser bookmarks, and pictures, how do I save all my steam game files? Don't think i"m worried about losing any other data besides that.

Hi folks,

Back again with another basic query.

I have a sheet of data with names in it. There's a lot of names. Some of them are 'John Smith' and some are 'Mr John Smith' and others are 'Mr John Edward Frederick da Silva Smith' etc. etc..

All I really want to do is have a formula that takes the last word... and puts it first. I've been through all the 'switching last name and first name' stuff and sure that works very nicely on a lot of data, but not really on this kind of a mixture. I did try messing around with the given formulae but... well, let's just say that Excel thought my efforts were so bad that it wouldn't even let me keep them on the sheet.

Could anybody tell me how I can isolate the last word of a cell and move it to the first position?

(None of the entries has a comma, so each part of the name is separated by a space).

Many thanks in advance... I'm sure there's something very simple that has escaped my attentions.

whenever the laptop goes to standby and comes back up, i can no longer find the devices connected via usb and my extra monitor also is disconnected. upon 'waking' the computer from standby, i also hear the sound i hear when i unplug a usb from its port. why is this? can it be fixed?

Hi, I was sent here by Chemist who was a great help in spyware removal. I just have a windows update that tries to load on shutdown, but fails every time. How can I get the update information to you? I am a techie rating of about 3 out of 10, but I try to follow innstructions. Thanks. :)

I clicked to turn off my com and it wanted to do updates but it has been stuck on 1 of 16 for 15 minutes. Is this normal?
