Hello. Im having a problem with one of my desktop machines that my research has not been able to solve.
I assembled 3 systems with the following (all new and bought at the same time) components:
Windows 7 Professional OEM
Gigabyte Z77-DS3H motherboard
2 x Western Digital Blue 1 TB HDDs
2 x Corsair Vengeance LP 4gb RAM
Intel Core i3
(And an Earthwatts 650W Power Supply that is specific to the problem computer.)
Two of the computers have been running with no problems for at least 2 years. The third system developed a problem after about 9 months: it wouldnt boot into Windows. It would boot as far as the black screen with the Windows logo, and would then reboot. It would go to Windows Error Recovery. Startup repair would fail to repair the computer automatically. I got a list of Problem Event Names, and Problem Signatures. I spent weeks researching the problem with the numbers that were listed on the Startup Repair results screen and found no suggestion that fixed the problem. Since some posters with this problem indicated it was their hard drives, I decided to just replace the hard drives and redo the system.
The system ran fine for about 9 months, and then the problem returned.
Below are the problem details from this time. They are not the same numbers as the last time, but the results are the same, as is my luck in finding a solution.
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21198896
Problem Signature 05: AutoFailOver
Problem Signature 06: 15
Problem Signature 07: NoRootCause
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
I believe the last time this happened, Problem Signature 07 was CorruptRegistry.
For the current iteration of this problem, I have run the startup repair many times, run the Windows memory diagnostic, and done the system restore several times using different restore points, all with the same result. I recently ran AVAST Rescue Disk on the system, and while it did find and remove a few things, the problem remained.
My Net Admin friend said that he had this problem regularly when his network (100+ users) was running Windows 7. His only solution was to upgrade the OSs. I have 3 other computers running Windows 7 with no problem. I was leaning toward a defective copy of Windows 7.
I know this problem has resulted in many, many threads on several forums, I havent encountered anyone thats had the problem return. Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas on which component I could replace to stop the loop? Thank you for any assistance.
