Hi, I can no longer use the combine files into PDF to combine excel files with specific worksheets.
When I add files and select Choose sheets, I receive a runtime error
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Adobe and windows have both the latest updates and I have tried installing this on different computers, all with Office 2013 to have the same behaviour.

Re: Window 7, IE 11 Very Slow and Freezes Up

I am using IE-11 with Windows 7, 64 bit
After I open Explorer from the start menu, I go to the Tools, gear icon, in the upper left corner, select safety>In Private Browsing, and it opens that window. I close the original window and continue on. I can close and open the Explorer from the start menu several times, and all works well – I see that option presented, which I select, and it goes on.
However, then I act as someone paying attention and use CCleaner to get rid of all my extraneous files that may be left behind from my browsing. I then go to the start menu to open Explorer, and the In Private option is no longer available. I am guessing that it got trashed by the cleaner, but in my experimenting, I have not been able to find which file needs to stay around for me to have the “In Private Browsing” option available from the start menu. Can you help?

Is it possible to have the “In Private Browsing” option used when opening the Explorer from a shortcut icon on the desktop?

Three different kinds of Windows 7

Hi.
I want to sell my computer, but before doing so I have to figure out a reasonable price. So I've been googling my way trying to figure out how much the different components of my computer costs. While looking through the specs I saw what was looking like three different Windows versions. I have no idea what this means and would be very happy if I could get an explanation. The versions are as follows:

1. MS COA Windows Home Premium 7 Nordic
2. MS DVD Win H.P/Pro/Ultimate 7 SE 64b Kom
3. MS ROYALTY Win Home Premium 7 Nordic

I would like to know what the difference are, why my specs say that I have three different kinds of windows, and if I only have one (which I have) which it is.

Thanks In Beforehand:smile::smile://Tobias

Can someone help or do I need to contact the creator of the software?

Hello

I apologise if I'm in the wrong section. I have downloaded a large zip file 9G over a couple of days using Flashget download manager, basically pausing and resuming. When I try opening the zip file using Winzip it gives me a message : " Archive is greater than 4 gigabytes" I tried using Winrar and I get a message : " C:\downloads\REXEssentialPlusODSP3.zip unexpected end of archive"

Rexessentialplus being the file I downloaded. How could I open this file to install the download ? If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.

Thank you

Darryn

Genuine Windows Q and some other issues.

Hi all

Just bought a used Lenovo Thinkpad and I'm thinking about doing a fresh OS install on it to try and fix a couple of problems and also just to give me the "new" Windows feel.
Unlike my Desktop for which I have a Windows OS CD, this one doesn't have a CD. It does have the sticker on the bottom but when I used Magical Jelly Bean KF it came back with a different key #. I'm not sure if these numbers should be the same or not but I read somewhere that they're not the same, which I find it confusing. And the question is, if I want to do a fresh OS install, do I use the # on the sticker (assuming it's the original sticker)?

The other problems I'm having :

The now common problem of Windows Updates just hanging on searching for updates, even though when I first got the PC the updates seemed to work but now they just stopped all of a sudden. Tried just about everything but none has worked. SFC/scannow and chkdsk all come back ok.

The second problem is all of a sudden CPU usage is at 50-100% almost the whole time even with nothing open. I don't know but it seems this started happening after downloading Lenovo Solution Center and some other Lenovo software but I'm not sure. I already tried running only basic Windows Services but CPU is still as high. No malware or Virus either.

Anyway, that's why I just thought maybe I'd do a fresh install and see what happens but first I wanna make sure I have genuine Windows even though it does say "windows is activated" and it does have that blue "Genuine Microsoft" logo in the system info but I'm just confused about the two different key #s.

And it's Windows 7 Pro

Thanks

wbemcomn.dll

Hi,
Suddenly I get with different programs an error message saying wbemcmn.dll is missing and, obviously, these programs then refuse to run. What can I do? I have seen here also threads about wbemcomn.dll but as every thread was basically about some specific program, neither of them was really helpful. Any advice, anyone?

Graphics and Audio drivers won't install.

Alright, so my friend built me a computer. It's a good computer. There's only two issues with it: one, there's no playback devices for audio at all, except High Definition Audio device, through HDMI, even with disconnected/disabled devices showing. I have an unused HDMI slot but this appears to be for graphics instead. I installed a Realtek HD audio driver but can't find it anywhere, and it doesn't even appear to have installed properly. As for my graphics, my graphics are using the Standard VGA adaptor although I know that my PC is far better equipped than that, as my Windows subscore is 1.0 (absolute lowest.) Games (even through C++ clients or Steam,) won't launch at all, although Flash and Javascript still play at peak performance. I've tried various driver installs, to no avail.

Can someone help me out, please? I've got no idea what exactly to install and how to enable it. Headphones initially played sound but the playback device for it disappeared eventually for unknown reasons. I have DirectX 11, Java and Flash are both fine and I have no other issues besides zero sound and an inability to play non-Flash/Java games.

I'm on Windows 7 64-bit, and my specs are as follows:
AMD A10-7870K Radeon R7, 12 Computer Cores 4C +8G 3.90GHz
8GB RAM

I don't appear to have a sound card. The only two things that appear to show on device manager are
Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus (currently disabled)
High Definition Audio Device (enabled as it's the ONLY palyback device I have, and appears to take a HDMI slot)

My friend is considering installing Linux (he didn't specify which version, could be Ubuntu?) and I'm not entirely sure that would fix my issue.

Please explain in Layman's terms what I need to do. Should I just install Linux? Can I easily fix this? I have been looking across the internet for about a month trying to solve this issue and I am at my wit's end. I don't envy people who build computers, this is the most confusing thing I've ever had to do in my life.

USB 3.0 needs no driver...Ha!

I have just fitted a PCIe 4 port USB 3.0 card into my AMD 6300 Asus home build and Windows tries to install it but then, red X, "no driver".

An hour searching for USB card drivers does not find one that works and I am even told the cards don't NEED a driver, built into W7?

The card is one I had in an old case and there are NO mnfctrs marks on it whatsoever. I am pretty sure however that it employs the VIA chipset.

I have been round this "no driver, Msoft have driver, no they don't" before with XP and USB 2.0!

How fix Error 126 manually.

Hello everybody. I need your help. My computer is Dell Optiplex 780, OS Win 7 64 bit. I have to install SpyderPro, Color Correct your Monitor from Pantone ColorVision. This old device worked excellent for me for more than 10 years with windows XP, Vista and now I try to install on Win 7. Company never releaced any update for this device, they only develop new devices. I am retired now and can’t spend $200 to buy a new one. So, I installed software from CD with no any problem, connect sensor to USB input and received message: ” Error 2(Spyder USB.cpp 126 the system cannot find the file specified”. I searched internet for this error and found answers: In windows get lost or corrupted some Dll file. Each site sagest download special software which cost money. I don’t trust these sites, there are hundreds of them and result is unpredictable and most of it have virus.
Is it possible to fix this error manually?
Any advice will be deeply appreciated.

Business contact manager creating issues.

Hello!
I recently formatted my Sony vaio. My system now carries the '60 days trial version of MS office 2007' which I intend to remove in maybe 10-15 days.
But I think I did something stupid!! I uninstalled "Business contact manager for outlook 2007" from "control panel --> programs -->programs and features --> <select> uninstall" because I thought this is something to do with Outlook and I do not wish to use outlook on my system.
After this everytime I started Ms word or excel, the system tried to install BCM and started giving me errors. So I did a system restore hoping it would get back to the original state. But nooooooooo......now it says some "MSSMLBIZ.msi" file is missing.
I tried researching on this but found nothing. I dont knw if i really need BCM for any programs. I don't really want to run another system format as it is a pain to do that and then run all the updates! :nonono:
Also Ms office locks any files for editing if i cancel the BCM installer.
So please help me use my trial version until I am in a position to remove this.

Also...There are a whole bunch of stuff by MS office in the uninstall or change a program list. I dont knw if i need them or if I should uninstall them too before installing another version of Ms office at a later point.

This includes:
Ms office 2003 web components
ms office 2007 primary interop assemblies
ms office small business connectivity components
Ms office suite activation assistant

Do I really need these???

Microsoft won't verify my Product Key

Hi.

I'm trying to do a fresh Windows install on a used laptop that I recently bought but when I try to download the ISO file -from Microsoft site- giving the Product Key (found by Magical Jelly Bean KF) I get a message saying "we encountered a problem with the product key you provided...".

I tried to research the problem but from the little I've found it seems I'm out of luck.

I don't know if this means the key has been used in other computers (I'm thinking maybe the guy who sold me the PC works with computers).

I tried using the Product Key on the label on the bottom of the PC but got a message telling me to contact the manufacturer of the PC or something like that.

So, is there anything I can do now?

This is an old Lenovo and I'm not sure if I can get help from them.

The other thing, I'm not sure if the HDD is original or not in this PC.

Any help is much appreciated.

Double click opens new window

Windows Vista, HP E6400 m7760n

Problem: A double-click on a folder in Windows Explorer FOLDER VIEW opens a new window.

I have scoured hundreds of forum postings on this very problem with 99% of proposed solutions not working for the poster. My sense of this is that the solutions offered focus on SHELL registry keys which deal with right click, not double click.

I think there is a vital registry key that handles double clicks in the folder view or folder pane that OVERRIDES the "folder options" setting "Open each folder in the same window".

Among many, I've tried the following, they change nothing (these are just a few examples):
  • I am LONG AFTER the point where system restore would have helped
  • It's not a virus
  • No changes work in the following because this is not a shell problem
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell default value set to "explore"
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell default value set to "explore"
  • sfc /scannow - It is not a problem with system files
  • regsvr32 "%SystemRoot%\System32\actxprxy.dll"
  • regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\ieproxy.dll"
-(This worked for a couple of people)
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState
-Using your right arrow key, move the cursor over to the right of the 5th "Value data" (2A), press the Backspace key, type in 0A (number 0), and click on OK.

Please respond if you know how Windows Explorer handles double-clicks to open folders in the same window.

My windows version: Virus 10

(Been wondering why I've had no replies. TSF has no record of my last visit or post.) This machine is a Windows 7 machine for a good reason. Some s/w that I rely on does not run on windows 10. This machine is set to require my approval before applying an update. A couple of weeks ago I booted to "Welcome to Windows 10". Folks, I did not authorize a change to my OS. "Windows 10" is a VIRUS that infected my machine without my knowledge or agreement. It over-rode my windows update settings and inserted itself onto this machine just like any virus. And I need to get rid of it. How to procede?

[SOLVED] Imput devices are...confused?

I'm really not sure how to summarize this effectively so I'll go through everything.

Was playing Minecraft, chatting with a friend (Trillian, using AIM protocols), and had my browser open (pretty sure it was just Netflix and google at the time - I'm not one to leave millions of tabs open.)

First noticed something was up when I tried to access the menu in Minecraft by hitting Escape. Got a weird flicker of something, but no menu. Could type fine in chat, move around, etc, just no response to the Escape key (including exiting inventories and other such in-game screens). So I shut down Minecraft, tried to look up the reason why such a thing would happen. Discovered I couldn't type or click links in firefox. Middle mouse to open in a new tab still works, as does opening the context menu and selecting any of the options in that menu, but not the link. Concerned, I went to pull up the keyboard settings in Windows...only to find I couldn't type in Windows, either. Went to tell my friend on Trillian that I was rebooting, and no luck typing there either. Rebooting is possible, but didn't solve the problem.

So...no typing in Windows, no typing or clicking links (specifically links, menu buttons seem fine) in Firefox, no typing in Trillian, but typing in Minecraft.

Part of me says virus, so I've got a full scan running - as I recall, Panda's still considered a solid antivirus, so it should detect something if there's something to detect.

Part of me points out that there's no reason to do this. It's not holding my computer ransom, it's not quietly stealing my banking info for nefarious purposes. Granted there's people out there who'd just design a virus to **** with people, but it seems like they could go further.

Assuming the virus scan turns up negative, does anyone have any suggestions of what else I might try?

:::EDIT::::
I figured it out. Virus scan turned up negative, triggering a restore point didn't work...then decided to take a closer look at my keyboard. The left Alt key was wedged in the depressed position, so the computer was interpreting everything as if I was holding alt and giving various commands that way. I hate these Chiclet style keyboards....
Guess I'll be reverting that Restore Point back to the present and getting back to normal. Leaving this here in case anyone else comes by with similarly bewildering problems.

ASUS Laptop Won't Boot or Restore

Hi all,

I have an ASUS N56V laptop (full name is N56VZ-DS71) running Windows 7. It's been generally running fine for the past few years, aside from the occasional blue screen of death. Last night, I turned it on and it wasn't able to boot up, even into Safe Mode. (It would just shut off suddenly in the middle of startup). I ran Startup Repair, supposedly fixed the files and the computer managed to start up and run for the next few hours. I put it to sleep and went to bed.

Ok all well and good but - This morning I came to turn it on and the power light was on, but it wouldn't turn on via pressing the keys, power button etc so I removed the battery, held the power button for 45 seconds (as read on another forum) then reinserted the battery and tried to turn it on. After a lot of failed attempts (turning off before starting into normal or safe mode, or even getting to startup Repair). I tried to use Startup Repair again, but was told that Startup Repair could now not fix the issue. Here was the information I was given:

Startup Repair information:
StartupRepairOffline
(01) 6.1.7600.16385
(02) 6.1.7600.16385
(03) unknown
(04) 210
(05) AutoFailover
(06) 1
(07) NoRootCause
OS: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

I then tried using System Restore to restore my computer to a previous state, and noticed an update had been auto-installed yesterday afternoon, right before the evening when my computer started having issues. I tried to System Restore the computer to a state before the update, but was told that wasn't possible -
Error during System Restore: 0x8000ffff
So I restored to the save state from last night, after the update, and my computer was able to boot up. I used the internet for about 15 minutes before the computer suddenly died again. Now it is unable to get to Startup Repair again (dies when booting up rather quickly), though I'm sure with enough tries it will get there.

Other potentially pertinent information:
- It's not an overheating or dust issue as I used a can airspray to clean out the vents, and the laptop was slightly warm but not hot by any means/the fan wasn't having difficulty running.
- About 1 year ago, I spilled lemonade all over the keyboard and it got into the motherboard, hard drive and inner workings of the computer. It was industrially cleaned and has been working with few hiccups for the past year...however maybe there's a chance that some uncleaned lemonade has finally corroded through something important? I feel this may not be the issue though since it was able to boot up fully at least once.
- Not due to a virus since last night I was able to run MalwareBytes which didn't catch anything.

I'm not too sure what to do at this point other than siphon my files off the hard drive and do a full system wipe & restore, but I'd really prefer not to do that as I do think there is a way this can be fixed and I'm not sure where my Windows 7 installation drive is. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Win 7 Cannot Create New Folders? HELP!!!

Hello, new to the forums here...Hopefully someone can help me out with a frustrating little problem I'm having on my Win7 Home Premium Laptop.
About 6 months ago the option (Right Click/New/Create New Folder) simply disappeared from the options list. I'm just curious if anyone else has run across this issue or if anyone can help me fix it. It's rather petty I know, but it's driving me nutso at this point LoL. It's making cleaning & sorting way more of a chore than it should be! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Thanks in advance.
