0xc0000001 Help

Hi after trying unsuccessfully to get rid of one problem I've now got another that I cannot solve? The problem started when Microsoft popups kept interrupting my emails, which I tried to get rid of! From there it went to Microsoft removing my search engine Firefox and not allowing me to sign in unless I let them be my new default! So in the process of trying to get rid of this I ended up in a real pickle and now nothing works AND I've dropped my phone down the loo!!! My day just doesn't get any better!
I cannot find my original Vista disc as I've just moved and it's still somewhere in the boxes ; help please

HP Pavilion 6 Laptop won't boot (Windows 7)

On Monday night when surfing Facebook my entire laptop froze-the time included. I tried re-starting it several times but each time it would freeze on the "starting windows" screen.

I've tried 'start up repair' many times and each time I've had notification of its failure due to being unable to boot. I've tried multiple systems restore points and each time I receive a failure notice with error codes 0x80070002 or 0x800700b7. I've run the hp diagnostic assessments and the bios diagnostic tools and as far as the results are concerned there's nothing wrong with the laptop. I've tried booting both with it plugged into the mains, and on battery power...nothing. I've completely run out of ideas.

If I need to completely wipe the laptop and start again, it's not the end of the world, but I'm wary of doing it because I don't actually know the issue is to begin with and am concerned that wiping everything won't actually fix the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've attached photos of laptop information and a couple of the diagnostic results.

Thank you, and apologies for any typos/autocorrects that I haven't noticed...doing this via my mobile.

Transfer Rate Problem

Hello. Every time I download a file, can it be direct from a site, or from torrent, when I copy or movie to another place ( another HD, same HD, External USB 3.0 drive etc ... ) , the transfer velocity is very low (10-15 MB/S ). Making some tests, I discovered that after the first time I copied the file, if I copy it back to the same location or another , the velocity comes back to normal ( 90 -130 MB/S ) most of the times. I am on Windows 7 SP1 , all drivers installed and Windows update up to date. My antivirus is MSE , but i tried with it disabled, no success. Sorry for the bad english and thank you for any help you can give me.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that I recently upgraded from the original XP OS to a Windows 7 OS.

I have located all the needed drivers, but cannot get the wireless card to work.

The network adapter is an Intel Pro 2200 BG Network connection driver
The driver I used is an R155386.EXE, I got from Dell.
I set the compatibility to run as XP service pak 2 when installing.

Below is a screen shot of the ipconf/all findings.

Attachment 303809

Up to this point I am lost. Any ideas?

Oh, it does connect to the Internet with a ethernet connection

Post Bluescreen Problems

This morning when I brought my laptop out of hibernate it promptly blue screened. I didn't think much of it until I restarted it and it was ridiculously slow. Took 20 minutes for all the startup programs to finish running, wouldn't bring up ctrl-alt-delete menu, ect. Definitely unusable. This has been getting worse to the point where now windows won't even appear properly after the lock screen.

It still works fine in safe mode (how I'm typing this right now). I've updated my graphics driver to no avail. Looking through the event viewer I see a huge number of Bonjour Service errors (some apple crap I didn't even know I had) both around the time I put it into hibernate and when I woke it up in the morning. I have copied all of them below. I tried to remove it in safe mode but I couldn't (either deleting the folder resulted in an error saying it was in use or trying to use the uninstaller said that I might now have windows installer installed. I'm assuming that's a safe mode thing).

I've also found some system errors at a later time (attached). I have ran two disk check commands (I forget what they were called now) in the command prompt but both came back clean.

I'm on a Sager NP8652/Clevo P650SG with a 980M, 4720HQ, 2 8GB sticks of ram, a 250BG SSD boot drive and a 1TB SATA 2 drive.

Thank you for any help!

EDIT: I've just found a probably useful error. I've added is as "blue screen report" but I'm not sure if that's actually what it is.

Windows 7 Updates interrupted

A client brought her eMachine PC to me. Stated that Windows had been updating itself. On a restart she stated it had seemed to stall at 100% and the "Do not shut down" message. However she got tired of waiting and restarted. Several times.

On start up it now reads:
Failure configuring Windows updates
Reverting changes . . .
Do not turn off your computer

The rotating 'working' circle shows and the dots after 'reverting changes' are moving, so I have to assume Windows is not frozen and may still be salvageable, though it has been this way for close to three hours.

Keep waiting or should I get ready to nuke it?

Is there any program that tells you what's connected to your USB ports

And, I don't mean like device manager where it will tell you which USB port something is in, but not a picture of which physical USB port. Here's something I made with excel, but a program that would tell me what is, or what was connected to it would be better.

Dragon acting weird on Windows 7

Having installed Dragon 12.5 on Windows 7 laptop Lenovo everything went perfectly all testing went perfectly until I decided it was time to turn off the application. In doing so when I turned application back on it refused to operate even though I had a microphone turned on and message bar to the right of the mic icon said "Normal mode. You can dictate…"It did not work. What I had to do was to completely reboot and then it would work. This is quite disconcerting. This did not happen in the another machine also Windows 7 i installed the same version of the same software.

Any good information would be greatly appreciated – thanking you in advance.

BSOD After Installing GPU Drivers

I upgraded my computer's GPU, so I'm transferring my old GTX 470 card to an older computer. The motherboard has no video output, so all video has to go through the graphics card. This works fine until I install the drivers; then the system blue screens as it boots.

I did my best to follow the instructions in the guidelines before posting, but perfmon/ report only gave me an error. I do have the Sysnative info attached, though. I've seen other people post WhoCrashed reports; I'll add that:

Please let me know if there's any more information I can provide. I'll try again to get that performance monitor test to work. Maybe it doesn't because I'm in safe mode?

Laptop Windows Error Recovery After Sleeping

0

Hi I have a Toshiba P50t-b Laptop which came with Windows 8 pre-installed.. I have since replaced the HDD with an SSD and installed Windows 7 on it and have had a few issues since.. The laptop crashes every time I turn on after trying to sleep, I was getting a blue screen after closing the lid and opening and Windows Error Recovery screen after going start -> sleep.

Though I had a few missing drivers and have finally found and installed those so device manager shows no missing drivers. I get no blue screens anymore just the Windows Error Recovery Screen. My graphics drivers are up to date. I've tried doing a clean boot with only Microsoft Drivers but that didn't work and I've also tried booting with Device Verifier running but that didn't help either.

I'm not sure what it is, can someone please help me to troubleshoot?

Many thanks.

Windows 7 or 10 on Packard Bell SE 3

Hi all,
I have a Packard Bell DOT SE notebook :
https://www.tesco.com/direct/packard...?source=others

I bought this many moons ago . . . before I was married had kids .. blah blah blah...

Anyways I am looking at re using this again as a temporary replacement for my Acer Aspire 5920. which has gone to silicon heaven this week.

Anyway the problem I have is with performance, I have upgraded the base spec to 2gb ram (wow)

It has a 500gb HDD in it I am looking at throwing in a Corsair 120 GB GT, this isnt an issue.

What I want to know, and as I suspect is Windows 7 a better choice over windows 10 considering the age, cpu, memory and HDD space I will have available.

It will be running Office 2010, Dreamweaver MX, Xampp 1.6.7, Web Plus 8, and some dedicated Aircraft Radar apps (Planeplotter).

Whats the best choice, please keep in mind the screen size is small and the windows 10 interface is somewhat "bulky"

wi fi win10 tablet not connecting to win 7 computer

  • I design restaurant point of sale (POS) system. This project involves using 8 inch win 10 tablets so the server can take orders right at the customers' tables.
I have a win 7 desktop (win 7) computer as the main computer (station1).
  • I have a win 10 8 inch tablet ON WIFI to be used by the server (station2).
If a server uses the main computer (station1) our software program sends the customer order to be printer on a kitchen printer which is a receipt printer printing on 3 inch wide paper as used in restaurant to print kitchen orders and customer checks.

I am trying to connect the receipt printer on the desktop onto the tablet.
When I go to "add a printer" on the tablet, regular printers like Lexmark and HP appear in the list of available printers on the tablet.
However, the receipt printer does not. Bixolon, the maker of the receipt printer, does not know why but suggests that the receipt printer has a different IP address then the desktop (station1). I am just exploring this possibility but know little about ip address.
I wonder f this is true?
How come my Lexmark and HP printers appear but the receipt printer does not?
  • PS: I just found out HP does not have a ip address.
  • If this post sounds garbled it is bacause I have not idea what I am talking about.
  • Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 Updates & Visual C++ issues

0

Hi everyone,

So I've been having a series of problems lately with my machine (Windows 7 64bit Home Premium) and it seems any possible fixes I've attempted either haven't worked or I'm simply not able to fully go through with it for various reasons.

Basically, a program I use pretty much all the time suddenly stopped working. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the program, only now for it to present the error message:

"The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer"

From what I've gathered this issue is related with Visual C++ Redistributable, which the program I'm trying to use does indeed install. So I uninstalled all iterations of Visual C++ from my computer, reinstalled it using the standalone vc_redist.x64 file I downloaded, and am then prompted with the error message:

"One or more isues caused the setup to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup. 0x80240017"

From what I've learned of THIS error, one fix I keep coming across is to update windows, and that leads me to possibly the whole crux of the issue; for a long time I could't download any windows updates at all.
I can't remember the exact problem, but a long time ago I had issues with my computer and one of them resulted in any time selecting 'Check for Updates' I'd get an error message:

"An error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer.
Error found: Code 80070002

and underneath it would say 'Never' for both 'Most recent check for updates' and 'Updates were installed:'.

Now after trying to follow many different possible fixes to this issue in the past week, I think I may have established something of a work around, although I can't remember what it was. Now, my computer seems to be downloading updates automatically and installs them when I shut down my computer, however when I click on check for updates I still get the above error.

Furthermore, if I click on 'View Update history' I'm presented with a long list of several different updates installed in the past couple of days. However if I click on 'Installed Updates' instead it says there's none installed on this computer at all.

I'm assuming that there's a windows update that might solve the Visual C++ issue, but I'm not sure how to go about it now. Would anyone be able to chip in and advise me on a next move?

Many thanks,

Joe

Windows Installation Failure

Alright, I need your guy's help again. I've been working at this for days now and cannot figure it out. I'm currently on Windows 10 and am downgrading to Windows 7.

I am installing Windows 7 via USB. Upon booting the USB I get this error after clicking "setup".

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: IF the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

Some key notes:

I have using both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Slots. I have tried booting without Legacy mode enabled in the BIOS USB settings but it does not recognize the USB device. I can only boot the USB with Legacy Mode enabled in the BIOS USB settings. My BIOS has a Windows 7 installation mode, it is enabled. Without being enabled installation is impossible as my keyboard and mouse will not work during the setup page. My motherboard is an MSI B150M Mortar LGA 1151.

Lenovo desktop suddenly died

We have a Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop computer, running Windows 7 Professional. It's a few years old, and for the most part has been running fine. However, it has now inexplicably died and won't come on again. :4-reaper:

We've been having a few blackouts and brownouts lately. It's not one of those computers that stays off when the power returns; if it was set to 'on' when the power went out, it'll start back up once the power returns.

A couple of days ago, it had gone into standby or sleep mode, and for some reason wouldn't come out of it. The laser mouse wasn't lit up, which often happens when a computer is in standby mode, but when I hit keys on the keyboard, it still didn't come on. After opening and closing the disc drive, and pushing the power button a couple of times, I finally gave up and held the button until it force shut-down. The next time it was turned on, however, it worked fine, and didn't seem to exhibit any unusual behavior.

So yesterday, the computer was working. It was left running overnight, as it generally is. The following morning, however, it was no longer on. Pushing the power button yields no power lights or sound of anything running. I unplugged it from the surge protector, then plugged it back in again, choosing a different plug on the surge protector. Still nothing. It shouldn't be an issue with the surge protector itself, as the monitor and internet router connected to it work. I don't think there was an outage, either, because no clocks were reset.
Does anyone have a theory on why it might have randomly died in the middle in the night, and whether by some miracle, it's something easily fixed?

System Restore not fully functional

0

I've had this problem for a while and have tried to investigate and resolve it without success. Before I commit to a clean install of Windows 7 I thought it would be a good idea to ask you guys if you can help.

I'm running Windows 7 64 Home Premium SP1. I have a slightly unconventional installation in that Windows is on C (an SSD), but my data is on P and my programs are on D

System Restore fails to operate correctly. System Protection is configured to create shadow copies on all HDD. In each case it is configured to 'Restore system settings and previous versions of files' and Max usage is set at an appropriate drive space size -at least 5% of drive space and 10% on main data drive.

However if I go into System Restore no Restore Points are ever available. If I click to Create a Restore Point in system protection, then it creates a restore point (apparently correctly), but there is no automated restore point production. If I try to restore to a point manually created in this way then it always fails during the process.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

Hanging up on Shutting Down

I have Windows 7 Professional, running on Dell. Recently, I'm having a problem that starts with programs not opening. Then when I try to shut down, it first asks me about programs that are running (that I cannot see), and I choose to force shutdown. It then spins and spins on the "shutting down" screen.

My USB-3 Dead

Hello,

Since some time I've been aware that my USB-3 sockets on the MBoard are dead.

They give no power and peripherals plugged in are not recognised. The drivers are apparently in place and the 'device is working properly'.

USB-2 is working, and although I don't have any USB-3 peripherals, it would be useful to have the use of the two USB-3 rear slots to supplement the miserable two USB-2 rear slots.

Any ideas ?

PC Worrking Erroneously

Recently my Windows 7 PC started malfunctioning. It does function but no surity on how long>Sometimes it works for full day others it fails within minuters. I have cleaned the memory cards (two numbers), pushed in the cables. When I check set up I find

IDE Primary slave not detected.

When it fails refuses to boot again. Switch it off reboot fails again. Leave it for some time then starts. At times it prompts "Press F1" "Press F2" etc. then reboots. Then works. At some stage a blue screen appears and I again go through the booting process. PC is ten years old. I have two questions.

1. What can I do to correct this situation?
2. My PC was bought in 2010 or may be earlier.I do not remember the date. Has the time come that I change the PC?

Only one year ago I had added an extra hard disk and replaced the DVD drive.

I do not think it is a cable connections problem. The PC is kept in a cool place, almost dust free area.

I am posting this only on the same PC. I use AVG Antivirus.
Hace run sfc/scannow and CHKDSK with f and R options. No problems found.
