Legacy Checkboxes / Mail Merging & Locked Document issues

Sending email letter to 200 people through Word 7 Mailings and Outlook. Need to be able to either "vote" on a question with the Vote function or have a checkbox where they can enter an X and send back by Reply. When I create the word document and insert a checkbox (in a table...read somewhere that the checkbox needed to be in a table) with Legacy Forms and check Restrict and then allow "filling in form," then Protect, then turn off Design, checkbox is active. However, when I try to start a mail merge my whole ribbon is grayed out and I can't select start mail merge Is there a way to use a field in the source excel sheet?
The reply to a thread that I copied in attachment seems to suggest (at least to this relative novice) that it is doable.
Can't do the Outlook vote because it seems you have to be on a "new Mail Message" screen to access and once you start the mail merge it appears that is not an option.
I am not a code person.

Split screen problem

Hi,

I have a FECPOS(Vogue) system but the screen has split(see image) - also to the right of the screen it is black.

I'm not sure how this has happened as it was being used in a store.

It was originally running windows xp I assumed that I would be able to fix itself by installing windows 7.

I've tried driver updaters etc and nothing seems to work.

Windows 7 pro sp1 domain locked

Hi All, please can you help. I have my dad's old work laptop that is domain locked. I have tried pretty much everything I can think of and then some to acces an administrator account. I have purchased windows password key enterprise and they also gave me ultimate as enterprise wouldn't work and that won't work either.
I've also tried recovery CDs, command prompts but access is denied.
I have been able to create additional admin account but they aren't accessible.
Everytime I think I might have a solution the relevant area is greyed out or access denied again.
This is unable to be resolved by a simple search engine result a single I have tried the majority of them.
Doesn't anyone know what I can do to try and gain access to one of the newly created admin accounts?
On start up no matter what happens or what I change, only my dad's user login (from domain) and 'other user' (which is a domain login) appear.

Exe not working

I have been having a problem trying to solve this by doing various recommendations from the Net. None are working and I fear that if I keep on fiddling with things, it could make an annoying problem worse. Some of the proposed solutions involved downloading exe files which of course do not open, A couple I did manage to use, FixExec and exefix did nothing. I created an Exe.reg notepad file and have been into my registry files and changed settings but nothing works. I think a virus may have been behind it. Please help. Thank you.

Rebooting A Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit Computer via a USB Flashdrive

Howdy! So I've been trying to reboot this PC for the past 2 days to minimal success. I've prepared a USB drive that acts as a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit installation CD, I updated the BIOS Boot Priority to USB Flashdrive first, and I even went an extra step (out of sheer frustration, tbf) and updated the 'First Priority' to USB-FDD, which, tbh, I'm not even sure is the right USB one, they gave me 4 options and I'm pretty confused and upset by this point. Basically what happens is - I press F10 and save, the PC resets, and I get the 'Press Any Button To Boot' message, but I cannot press anything. I mean, I am pressing, I'm basically mashing the living soul out of the keyboard by this point, but I get no response. I read online that it may have to do with the fact the the keyboard is connected with USB, and that I should use an older connection, PS2 or smtn, but I don't have any of these older keyboards in my house.
Help please!
Thanks a bunch.

Power Saving Features Disabled

This is in relation to my older HP Z220 workstation. I recently upgraded it to Windows 7 Pro x64. I have an APC battery backup unit attached. After I installed the monitoring software, none of the power saving features worked. No auto monitor shutoff, screen saver, and probably other things I am not aware of. I've searched the web and looked at all the settings I can find. No success.

The HP is completely stock; no modifications except for an nVidia GTX-750 Ti which I added. It gives a higher resolution on an old Samsung 19" display than the on-board does.

I am looking for suggestions as to how to resolve this issue. Thank you!

Webcam C922 driver problems

I bought a Logitech C922 Webcam for video work and it does not work properly as in not allowing resolution changes and other issues with software that could use the webcam. I sent back the first C922 thinking it may be a defective device but the replacement does the same thing. I contacted Logitech and after their level one support was no help they bumped me up to an elevated level 2 support. They never contact me back and I call them once a week but they seem to either have a major issue in fixing this, or I need a level 3 bump. Anyhow, in Win7 if I run the Logitech Webcam software it always has a popup that says I am using the Windows UVC driver and would get best results if I was using the Logitech Webcam Driver. But nobody seems to be able to help getting it sorted out. They put the driver in the LGS (Logitech Gaming Software) so the driver is not a simple driver install. I have read a lot of people complaining starting is 2016 so I am pretty sure Logitech is struggling with this one. Anyone else run into this??
Thanks,
schemer

Display Driver "Inf File not found" even when the INF is there

Hi,

Recently my laptop bugged out the GPU (ATI HD 6750m), when the AMD CCC suggested an updated driver. This caused the GPU to be unuseable, code 43 was showing in the device manager details.

My first step was to clean out everything related which I could find, using a combination of standard uninstall, CCleaner & Driverfusion. I then tried to reinstall the old driver, which had worked before.

This failed, the AMD install manager could install the CCC, but when it gets to the display driver it says "inf file not found" and fails. I tried going through the Device manager automatic "update driver", it claims the driver is up to date.

After this i tried going through the device manager "update driver" manually (where you give it a folder to look in), and it said it was up to date, AND then tried going through the option where you define an INF file (under "C:\AMD\AMD-Catalyst-Omega-14.12-With-DOTNet45-Win7-64bit\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF". It then claimed "INF file not found" AGAIN. I *know* the file is there, i just pointed the DM at it!!

Finally I tried running the installer from that directory manually, as an Admin. It demands that the "Install Manager" be used to install it (and boots that up), but this then fails with...... "INF file not found"

I've also tried Windows repair, as I heard that can help sometimes - no difference, still getting INF failures installing the driver.

I'm going out of my mind here :banghead: - there clearly is an INF file, but for some reason Windows cant find it to install, even when it is pointed directly at it.
Thanks in advance if anyone can figure this one out without a full clean Windows install, which will be a PITA to reinstall all programs again. I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium x64, SP1.

Batch files

I would like to be able to save my work to my hard drive but also to have it automatically saved to 2 usb drives. Is there any way I can change the Open Office Word to save to 3 locations automatically? or can I write a batch file so that the files are saved to the usb drives whenever I click on the icon to dismount the 2 usb drives?

Corrupt display

I've been getting a corrupt display the past 24 hours. At first it was intermittent and only when creating a new email in Outlook, but it's been rapidly getting worse.

First it was on okay screen but gave me garbage where I dragged the mouse. Then later it was a black window with garbage where I dragged the mouse. And only with new items in Outlook.

See these two images:

But then when I took a third screen shot of that behavior with Snagit and went to save that in Snagit Editor it did the same thing while in Snagit Editor, with a bad display where I moved the mouse:

Outlook doesn't seem as suspect since the last image, which happened while in Snagit Editor, not in Outlook, but Outlook was open when that happened.

Then, I closed Outlook and returned to this thread that I had started in the forum in Chrome, and was able to go back to typing this post and it's all working normally. It's been too intermittent and is too soon to say if this is only happening when Outlook is running -- though that does seem to perhaps be the case. I was not only able to finish typing this post fine after closing Outlook, and upload the images with my FTP program, but also go back into Snagit Editor, all with no problems.

I was also then able to open Word and move around in a doc and that seems to be working fine, too, though I didn't test it a lot.

My system hasn't changed in a long time as far as I know (other than the Windows 7 updates I always run when they're made available).

I might mention that once in a while this machine has exhibited lag in terms of responses to mouse movements or keyboard input, but not very often and then it clears up quickly. Only in the recent months. Not often at all. Usually when I'm using WiFi (desktop machine with USB WiFi) and a VPN, not that I know if that's related.

Other than that, the machine runs like a top.

System:

i7 with 16 GB RAM.

Windows 7 Pro 64.

Office 2010 Pro.

I have a Logitech mouse with their SetPoint running. It's been the same driver version for well over a year.

The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti. The driver is dated 3/16/17, version 21.21.13.7892 (I've made a habit of not allowing the graphics card driver updates that are offered up with Windows updates, since I never need the enhancements, which are almost always just for gamers, and since once in a while they've introduced issues that required removal).

So, I'm going to do an image backup of the whole system before I start to try various fixes.

The question is if I should focus on:

- updating the graphics driver (seems the obvious first choice, I guess)
- reinstalling the SetPoint software
- reinstalling Outlook? (I hope not; a bigger project than I have time for)
- replacing the video card
- anything else

Thanks!

[SOLVED] Windows Update

I am running Windows 7 and have tried to check for updates which I do periodically.
When I tried today I'm getting a notification that says: Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.
I've restarted my computer several times and I still get the same notification.
What do I need to do?

Thanks,
David J.

Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Causing Problems?

I have a Toshiba Tecra laptop that I use to stream live audio remotes via a WiFi connection. From time to time the connection gets to where I become disconnected from the Edcast server at our radio station.

I took a look today at the device manager and see that there are two Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniports listed. After searching here, I found this post.

Since I don't use a virtual WiFi setup, will uninstalling the Miniports help improve my connection to our router or Verizon Jetpack that I use for streaming?
