Good to-do and reminder software for Win7, any recommendation?
I would like to find a feature-rich to-do and reminder software which has the following features:
* a way to display all forthcoming tasks at specific period, preferably the ability to sort based on urgency, category etc.
* a task which I can set multiple reminders (e.g. remind me before 1 month at 6:00pm, before 10 days at 12:00pm, on that day at 1:15pm etc.)
* a re-occurring task/event with advanced pattern (e.g. at different specific dates, or every 3rd, 11th, 25th day of Jan, Mar, May), preferably set when the pattern starts/expires
I have tried several software but they lack some of the features I want. Does anyone know any software which has those features? Shareware is fine.

disk read error ?
i'm trying to re-install windows 7, due to getting disk read error (ctrl alt delete?) to restart message : is there a way to just re-install windows 7 without my windows 7 dvd trying to repair disk errors; i set the boot location to my dvd drive, instead of my hard drive ? thanks

Owners Vs Administrators
I was given an old presario CQ56 laptop from a guy whos son died, and the laptop was set up for a home network with other computers and print servers.
I had issues trying to access certain permissions saying i was not the original owner, but i set myself up as an admin/user with many permissions, but it will not allow me to give myself FULL permissions for some files and directories because im not the original owner. Does anyone know how to change this? and is there a way to make it just a personal computer without all the network sharing and user accounts? even at boot, i either login as me, or there's an option for another user to login with less permissions. Im not a big windows fan and haven't been on it for years, i just don't need all the network sharing with multiple user account and multiple directories with duplicate files for networked users with personal permissions. im using windows 7 premium, and it waist so much disk space creating these personal user account directories and files.
how do i make me the original owner with full permissions for every file and directory? my name is Jay, the original owner was alfred, when i download something it always downloads to /user/alfred/jay. its the default directory. am i waisting my time, or can this be fixed?

Action Center says there is no Antivirus - but an antivirus is installed
Hey ya'll, this has me pretty upset so I'm hoping someone can help.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a laptop, and the antivirus in question is Avira.
Avira Antivirus gave me a message that its latest update needed a restart. I did so, and when it turned on, it took much longer than usual for the Action Center to show up. When it did, it had a red X on it, and said no Antivirus was detected. However, I checked, and Avira is running fine.
I looked online for a solution, and couldn't find any recent ones - I tried the one I could, which was here on the Avira site, but it didn't work, even after another restart.
Everything is running correctly as far as I can tell, it's just that the Action Center still says there's no antivirus. The only thing that made the red x go away was turning off alerts about antivirus.
It has done something similar before for the last few months - to be precise, some mornings, when I woke the laptop from hibernation, it would say that "Avira Antivirus is turned off", but the message disappeared after 1-3 minutes (I always assumed that was after Avira finished the morning update.)

[SOLVED] Does creation of second admin acct enable deletion of 1st?
Hi, i was planning on creating a 2nd Administrator account and then deleting the first one, but i'm sorta confused, because in the Change-Accounts menu, I don't see any Delete option enabling removal of the current Administrator account.
So my question is:
Once i would create a 2nd Administrator account, would that cause a Delete option to display in aforesaid menu, enabling me to delete the 1st Administrator account?
I couldn't find the answer to this question online, rather all i saw was an Instructables for deleting Admin. account. (And those instructions assumed you have only one Admin. account.)

[SOLVED] Windows 7 Pro, Dead HDD
Hello,
My neighbor has a 32-bit Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Latitude E5520. She assumed all she needed to do was replace the crack monitor screen but after doing a diagnostic test, the info comes back dead HDD.
Question(s)
Can I move the Old OS from the dead HDD to a new HDD? Another issue, she can't remember her Dell laptop password. I did have a Windows 7 Ultimate disc ( remember those) but when I went into Command Prompt, I didn't see C:/ drive... I see X:/ Thanks.

....because this needs to be returned in the same condition as purchased.
When i bought this used laptop, it came with the following on Desktop:
Recycle, Chrome, and IE
Since then, the taskbar is where the IE shortcut displays
...and the Desktop displays: Recycle + Chrome
......as well as my additions of: VLC, Palemoon, HDtune, Avira

Folder permissions for a single user
Hi everyone,
I have a VIP user who has a folder on a shared NAS drive. This user wants to have full control over the folder with everyone else being denied access - including myself as the domain admin.
The users idea is to give himself full control and then remove myself from folder reading and writing but in case if anything goes wrong I should still be able to still have control over permissions.
It doesn't make much sense but it's a request that I have to handle in the best way possible.
Any ideas on how to do something like this?

Windows 7 Pro startup
I've been noticing lately that Windows 7 when I select which user I'm logging into,as I have two accounts s I found it necessary lately to have a admin account doesn't log-in straight away. Instead it loads into a black screen and seem to take a decent amount of time to load to windows and load all the icons on my desktop. I attempted to fix it by using MSCONFIG and using selected startup,so it doesn't load non-essential stuff until I need it but that seems to have made little to no difference.

Can't reinstall audio on Win7 Gateway NV53 laptop.
1. I have lost Realtek audio on my Win7 Gateway NV53 laptop.
2. I had Slimware's DriverUpdate on the system. Because it was asking me to renew and purchase it almost every hour, I uninstalled it. Out of retaliation, Slimware evidently removed the default Realtek audio device,
3. I downloaded the Gateway ConExant driver for the Gateway website, Audio_Conexant_4.98.9.0_W7x64_A I ran Setup64.eexe, It said "Driver Installation failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this device."
4. I look at the Windows Device Manager list under Sounds ... There was no entry for the Realtek audio chip, only AMD HSMI Output.
5. I presume I have to put the Realtek system back in the Device list. How do I do that? What is the exact device name.

seagate hard-drive : compatable other brands ?
seagate, barracuda, 7200.10 internal hard-drive in my desktop, windows 7 : what other brands are compatable ? it has to 'plug-in' 's, a 3/4 " one on left and a 3/8 " one to the right of the 3/4 " plug-in; the guy from best buy said the western digital 3 terabyte is compatable: do all internal hard-drives have this 2 plug-in set-up ? thanks

Cannot up date display/graphics drivers. Windows Update Failing.
Note: This was removed from the AMD forums by a moderator though i'm unsure why.
I am currently looking through common trouble-shooting methods for both problems now but if any of you have any experience with this or simply know what I need to do, more relevant help would be very much appreciated, I'm a bit lost to be honest.

When i've removed all of the existing drivers and I then allow my pc to restart, if I then run Epic Games launcher, it will prompt me with a message saying "There is a problem with the graphics card on this computer." and simply closes its self. Basically you cant use the Epic Games launcher at this point. However once I've installed the partially installed driver provided by AMD auto-detect software, if I then run the Epic Games launcher, it will open and is functional, I can then play Fortnite with a smooth performance. This tells me that a driver has successfully been installed, however I cannot access/find AMD Radeon Settings anywhere and AMD Auto-Detect says that a driver is only "Partially Installed".
I understand computers pretty well I like to think, i'd be confident in attempting a manual installation if anyone wants to guide me if possible, I did look for a manual driver on google using the hardware id's to search but it soon became assumable that its not possible to do a manual driver installation for my graphics card as the first 2 pages of search results only sent me to websites offering the auto detect software, I hope you prove me wrong however.
I've not tried a manual driver installation as I didn't have much luck finding a manual driver for my graphics card but i'd definitely like to try this so, potentially useful information:

[SOLVED] Error code 80072F8F, Clock, and Bios PW prompting
My mom's HP 6000 Small Pro Form Factor gave an error saying onboard battery needed to be replaced. After replacement, then conducted Self-test on the HP utility screen prior to loading windows and gave HDD replacement recommended so replaced with the upgraded version of WDC brand but aftermarket (Not purchased through HP directly). Installed iso files for Windows 7 Pro 32 bit and entered the product key for the computer. Attempt update and gives Error code 80072F8F (an unknown error). Noticed the time and it was off, so double clicked the bottom right of the screen at the time showing random date in the year 2099. Pressed Internet Time, change settings made sure synchronize was checked and typed in pool.ntp.org and pressed update now. Resulted in "An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with pool.ntp.org." The clock was most recently synchronized on 4/23/2099 at 901PM.
Next I went to command prompt in the start window and right clicked to enter Run as Administrator and typed SFC /scannow to receive this information.

I then went to search program and files section at start tab and typed run. Then input cmd /c copy %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.txt"
It only flashed the cmd prompt screen at me not stating anything different than the window was already stating about not being any integrity violations.
So the question is how do I update the computer? Currently, it will not allow me to enter into any website to download anything even if I turn all the firewalls off. And what do I need to do to fix the clock because it seems like the two come hand in hand?
To clarify this is a desktop replacing a watch-sized battery (onboard battery) on the motherboard itself. Pressing F10 prompts for password pressing enter 4x prompts language then HP Setup Utility that does not allow for any changes in the system not even the boot order but DPS self-test is now passing whereas last time it failed explaining HDD replacement recommended and it being SATA0.
Upon initial startup every time it goes to Windows Boot manager prompting for options Windows 7 or Windows Setup (EMS enabled) then under Memory Diagnostic Tool but by pressing nothing it continues through loading. Install disc included sp1 update. In Windows Update history it shows that update.
After retyping scannow code to Sfc /Scannow CHKDSK C: /F which someone explained I needed to type since I replaced hard drive. I then get.
Scans the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Next I went to command prompt in the start window and right clicked to enter Run as Administrator and typed SFC /scannow to receive this information.

I then went to search program and files section at start tab and typed run. Then input cmd /c copy %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.txt"
It only flashed the cmd prompt screen at me not stating anything different than the window was already stating about not being any integrity violations.
So the question is how do I update the computer? Currently, it will not allow me to enter into any website to download anything even if I turn all the firewalls off. And what do I need to do to fix the clock because it seems like the two come hand in hand?
To clarify this is a desktop replacing a watch-sized battery (onboard battery) on the motherboard itself.
