Old Windows 7 disk & activation numbers lost.

I'm working on a new build and was wondering if I could somehow recover the activation from an old Windows 7 pro 3 pack that has been long discarded. I am 100% sure of the microsoft account used when win 7 was installed on long dead computers. I plan to try to upgrade the win 7 to win 10 as has been described on several websites. The win 7 pro 3 pack should have 2 good activations left.

Videos and GIFs outside of YouTube keep glitching after 15 seconds.

For the last couple months, every time I visit Twitter, Reddit, Giphy, etc. and the website tries to load a video or GIF, you'll get about 15 seconds in, then the next couple of frames start playing on repeat, and in the case of videos, the audio plays on like nothing wrong is happening.

Sometimes if I'm on Giphy or such, and there are dozens, if not hundreds of GIFs loading at once incorrectly, a bunch of glitchy black pixels will start flashing in the top left corner of the screen before the screen flashes, tells me some visual driver crashed and fixed itself, and then the entire PC crashes a moment later. No exceptions.

It's kind of driving me nuts at this point, and I can't find a single person elsewhere that's had even a similar issue.

Problems Getting Solitaire On Win 7 Pro

Okay I have a laptop with window7 pro ... I am trying to get the solitaire game to appear. Unfortunately when I go to the windows features on off box nothing appears it's completely blank.:ermm:

I tried on method of making sure the Windows Modules Installer Service is running. I set it to auto and restarted the computer ... nothing ... no list.

I tried to do a sfc /scannow in the command prompt, but it keeps telling me I have to log on as admin ... but I am logged on as admin as far as I can tell.:nonono: Admin is under my name in the control panel user account, but I don't see it under my name when I boot up and log on to windows.

So problems are popping up that keep me from solving the main problem of the features list to appear so I can get solitaire. Any ideas what is going on?

Thank you for reading my post.

Mouse, website(s), programs -FREEZE

Windows 7 laptop. I did drop my laptop a few days ago - but beginning yesterday, the mouse cursor freezes so does whatever program I am in (Word, Kindle, etc) or if I am online. I have tried going back to previous mouse drive really really slow but still froze - so updated to previous drive -which is the current one. I have also blown cool air over all the vents (using my hair drying that has a cool (also has med & hot, not used) air. I had recently switched to Fox browser & have noticed some slowness. I just searched the register & I do have ActiveX installed which must have come with Windows7 (another thread commented that this was not needed on Fox) but not certain if that could be causing part of the problems - but not use it would effect everything freezing. Earlier today I viewed online for over 2 hrs until website froze, I was able to click to another tab, but then mouse froze.
** Every time I think it is working, which over 2 hrs is good, the mouse and screen freezes ******* Other than that, everything else appears to be working great. *** Any ideas *** - And after restarting laptop, I was able to come here & all is working just fine. ***:ermm::ermm::ermm::ermm::sad::sad::sad:

Keyboard not working in Windows 7 (64-bit)

My computer had virtually died. It would not turn on or charge. So I eventually had to replace the entire motherboard and also reset Windows 7 to the factory settings. Now it turns on, but the problem is that the keyboard doesn't work. None of the keys, functions, numbers, etc. I purchased a new keyboard from eBay to see if that would work, but to no avail. I already tried various methods from YouTube. From going to Device Manager and trying to update the keyboard driver to installing/uninstalling the driver as well. I also tried going into regedit and checking if keyboard was listed (which it was), under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, but nothing. I would really appreciate if someone has had this problem before and fixed it. BTW, my computer is a Dell Inspiron M5040 (pretty old) and I'm running on Windows 7 (64-bit).

Computer powers off in sleep mode and won't resume

Dell Vostro 430
Windows 7

The way I would normally use my computer I would put it in sleep mode when I was done for the day. I disabled everything to wake it but the power button and it all worked fine until a month or so ago. Now if I leave the computer in sleep mode overnight it ends up powering off and when I try to wake it up it boots the BIOS then says "Resuming Windows" then just hangs and I have to pull the power and it gives me the option of resuming windows or deleting the restore point and booting. For a while I just put this off as the power in the house shutting off in the middle of the night but this happens every time the computer is asleep more than an hour or so.

I am at my wits end. I have installed a new monitor, have two monitors now, but something got screwed up and now my computer freezes overnight and have to do a hard reboot. Only other thing I added was Express VPN (which seems to make the computer boot up a lot slower too) Comes back up saying system did not shut down normally.

I would also like to know if there is a way to show the task bar on the other monitor. When I go to properties on the task bar, there isn't an option to show it on the other monitor.

I don't remember how to save the event file, can you help me?

windows 7 BSOD Page Fault in Non Paged area

Hi

I have a computer runing windows 7

Today I started the computer and it started just fine - I logged into my user and then after about 1 minute I got the blue screen that read Page fault in no pages area .

I tried to boot the computer a couple more times with the same result. it does however remain ok in safe mode with networking.

I ran a search in google and came accross a way to disable page caching by going to system properties, advanced performance settings, virtual memory and Uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives box and then select No paging file.

I then restarted the computer and I got a blue screen again (but i dont think it said the same error such as Page fault in non paged area)

I then started in safe mode and ran a disk check - the system restarted and completed the diskcheck.

I wasnt able to read the windows dump files so I downloaded a tool called whocrashedme and here is what it shows

Shared printer loses its own port

$

Hello everyone, I'm a computer technician and I have a problem with a shared printer where I work. I state that permissions are correct and the printer works regularly on the PC where it’s installed (on USB port). Through UNC path I see the printer in the list and if I try to install it by clicking on connect it’s installed without problems. Too bad that by doing so the printer is only available for one user. If I try to install the printer as an administrator by creating a local port, the printer is installed and can be used by all users of the PC. Too bad that when Windows restarts, the printer remains greyed out. The printer is offline, and there is no way to put it back online. In fact, if I check the printer ports, it results without any associated port. If I try to re-create the network port (\\ REMOTEPC\SHAREDPRINTERNAME), an error is issued indicating that the port already exists! Unfortunately, checking the port, it does not appear in the list of available ports. At this point, I have to remove the printer and restart the PC.
What can you depend on? I have already tried to uninstall the printer drivers, both on the PC where it is physically connected and on the PC that must use it through sharing. I even deleted the drivers in the path C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and from the path C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3.
I attach some photos taken with the smartphone modified for privacy. The OS is Windows 7 Pro with Italian language.
Why installing it at user level it works correctly, while installing it at administrator level it’s always offline because of the loss of the associated port?

Thanks in advance,

Scorpion77

Deepcleaning my PC

I upgraded my PC in 2013 with the help of this forum.
My PC is a desktop with Win7 64b. (Legal.)
I use it most to help myself and others finding ancestor. But also for daily use.

After so many years, I suspect that there is a lot of junk, dirt, leftovers and maybe even capasity thieves hidden in the depths.

I update Windows regularly
I use Bitdefender Total Security (Legal)
I regularly run CCleaner and System Ninja. (Free)
For deletion I use Revo Uninstaller Pro. (Legal)
I use Google Chrome Browser. (But don't like that Google try to "tie" its customers "closer and closer to its chest")

What I want is software that can deepclean my PC but without great risk. I have nothing but a medium knowledge.

Suggestions on cleaning-speeding up Win 7 laptop.

I'm trying to clean up & speed up a Win7 pro HP laptop. I haven't used Win7 in a long time. The laptop has Intel i3-3110M, 2.40 GHz, 8GB Ram, OS x64. So can you recommend the best steps to do a cleanup & speed up on a system like this? It has no 3rd party AV or malware programs. it just has built in Win Defender. I was thinking about doing the following.
-Update Win 7.
-Uninstall any 3rd party junk programs.
-Run Malwarebytes scan.
-Run Defender scan.
*Any other suggestions to run?

Is "Search & Destroy" still a good AV/Malware program?
Can you recommend any free diagnostic programs that can scan/test the PC to see if it's running close to optimal speed?
Thanks!

What causes mouse cursor to jump around.

That is what is happening to my sister's laptop - I am on it now & the cursor jumped back to the word 'what' -so I had to click where I wanted to continuing typing. Does not always happen -but to me & the typing I do in Word, or FB, or emails - or here - is a pain.... My sister said this has been happening for awhile. --- So is there a problem we can fix --- or is this a sign of something worse??

Any thoughts/helps would be nice.

[SOLVED] Windows Not Prompting for Credentials for Network Share

$

I've got a strange one here.. When one PC (client) tries to access a shared folder on another computer (server), the client no longer pops up the Windows security dialogue box to enter a username & password.

The client PC previously had a mapped drive to the share along with the credentials being saved. If I try to recreate the share, I get an error message: "The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred: The handle is invalid." If I browse the network folder in Explorer and click on another local PC, I'm presented with a security dialogue to log in.

Both are Win 7 Pro PCs. Windows credentials are cleared on the client and verified in 'net use'. All PCs are on the same private network, firewalls are off.

[SOLVED] WUDFHost.exe memory usage

$

I have HP Probook 450 G2 running windows 7 Pro x64 with a memory leak / aggressive memory usage.

After a few minutes of uptime it will expand to consume all available memory. Hitting about 2.6gb before the machine starts reporting low memory in other apps and becomes unusable.

WUDFhost.exe is a windows driver container which leads me to think it is a dodgy driver.

This machine had the problem last year and I replaced the hard drive and reloaded the OS from scratch this week and have updated it will all the MS updates.

I tried rolling back all drivers I could to see if that would help, it didn't.

I installed the latest HP Support app and let it update all the drivers.

None of it has made any differnece.

The only thing connected to the USB ports is a dongle for the mouse. The user will plug in there phone to charge, but the issue occurs regardless of the phones presence.

I ran the driver verifier with the settings as recommeneded here

https://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f299/driver-verifier-windows-10-8-1-8-7-and-vista-bsod-relat...

and managed to get the laptop to blue screen twice.

I've tried to analyse the dump files but they are beyond my skill level.

Atttached are the two files.

Any assistance is appreciated.

PC won't start. Blk,blue screen, error msgs...

So, just as usual my PC decides to act up all of a sudden and for no apparent reason and this time things got real sh***y.

I'll try to make this short but I know it'll still be long.

3 days ago PC was running perfect but since it'd been a while since I did a backup, I decided to clone the the main drive (C) using a good used HDD. Used a popular program to do the cloning and when finished checked the drive and it worked fine but when I did a restart of the PC I got a black screen with a message telling me Windows has failed to start... So, I unplugged that drive because I didn't feel like missing with the PC and plugged in the old drive and things went back to normal.

One day later while playing a game I noticed the CPU temp running too high (90+ degrees). Stopped the game and temp went down but stayed around 50+, which was still high for my PC. I keep my PC clean and always blow out the dust using an air compressor. All fans working too.

Today, I decided to try some thermal paste. Took out the heatsink, put a drop of the paste and gently put the fan back. Turned the PC on and temps looked normal (35-38 deg.) but not even 15 minutes after, the PC freezes and nothing worked except pulling the plug. Restarted the PC and again it froze within a couple of minutes, then froze a 3rd time. Then the "Blue SOD" with a line saying "bugcode_usb_driver". Then after that every attempt to restart I'd get "Windows has failed to start..." and "insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer". I have my original Win7 Installation disc but when I tried to use it I kept getting the message " Windows has failed to start..." !!! *** ? This is a first for me. Then I tried a 4th drive with Win 10 on it and it worked but I did a restart and what I get ...? "Windows has failed to start........"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, 4 different HDDs but the same thing.

How did all this happen and why ? It can't be because I took the heatsink out.

Error messages that I got : 0xc00000e, 0xc0000225.

Why won't the OS installation disc work ? I changed the boot order in BIOS.

Could all of this have been caused by the cloning I did ? I'm just so pissed off and lost and can't figure out what went wrong.

I'm glad I have an old laptop i can use to write this.

I know this is a little too long but trying to cover everything.

I appreciate any replies and advice on what to do and where to start.

Thanks

No Audio Output Device Installed

Hello.Built a computer for a friends son. It's nothing fancy.Just hardware that's never been unboxed. However after getting it completely built, there's no sound. It keeps saying No Audio Output Device Installed.I have tried for 4 hours now trying to fix this and nothings worked. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on this machine.I have tried using Windows disc to do a repair and of course it says "no problems found".

I attempted a system restore. I've tried searching online for help and still nothings helped. Went into device manager, looked under sound video and game controllers and all I see is nvidia high definition audio listed 4 seperate times along with nvidia virtual audio device. Then theres usb audio device. That's it under sound in device manager.

Not sure what happened.I had sound.Restarted computer and sounds just gone. There anyway I can get sound back ?

How to unmount virtual drive, that isn't in Disk Management

Long story short a virtual drive has taken a disk letter I need for another hard drive for my backup process to work

The problem is I can't see the virtual drive either in disc management to be able to change it's drive letter

I can see it in my computer, I've been into PowerISO to actually mount something to the VHD in the hope that would get it to show up, but I'm out of luck.

Any suggestions on this?
Thanks in advance
