Hello My laptop is a win7 Gateway NV59 Processor: Intel(r) Core(TM) i3 cpu M330 @ 2.13GHz 2.13GHz RAM: 4.00 GB (3.86 GB usable) System type: 64-bit Opeating System

2 days ago this laptop was working fine good barely any lagg or anything being slow. Suddenly the next day in the morning as I turned my laptop on it was fine then I went on my Google Chrome and started browsing I noticed a little bit of lag through out the day. The next day it was fine at start no problem logging on and starting, but when I went to my start bar or went to surf the internet or try anything even go open a folder. I get LAG it freezes I dont know what to do, please help me. Even if I go to my start menu bar and open Control Panel it FREEZES I even try opening different programs it laggs and Task manager is saying my CPU usage is at 10-20% and memory is at 1-1.2 gb usage... Please help me I dont know what to do! I try doing some things that will help me through youtube but none helped. Please it was perfect 2 days ago it was running amazingly barely any lagg or freeze now even if I just try to open something or even go to start menu or go to my computer or even my accounts profile it FREEZES I have to do ALT CRTL DELETE just to stop the lagg and end process of it. Please Help me! This lagg is annoying its really constant it happens only when I open something or even if I go on desktop and right click to REFRESH it sometimes makes my desktop look like its just blank with the background picture. Please!HELP!

PS EDIT: I don`t know why but in task manager ( PERFORMANCE ) it shows that I have 4 CPU USAGE HISTORY bar things. I use to have 2 or 1 before.

Bad image error!

I'm having some major problems with this "Bad image" error, I'll give the full story, But if you're not interested just scroll down to the actual problem, However I do advise reading it :)

Back story
I opened afterFX.exe as usual (I like editing) And I get this strange error message, I just assumed it just failed to launch so I closed it and re-opened it.. But I got the message again. This started to continue for several days so I finally decided to re-install it.. However I got the SAME error message which is extremely annoying because I love editing and I want to get started again!

Problem
But it's not just my afterFX it's happening with my AVG protection (Forgive me I know it's rubbish but I'm not stupid and go downloading bad things) Although I may be hypercritical because perhaps I have a Malware which is stopping me from doing certain things, Perhaps it is?
So overall The problem is this god damn Bad image error message! Anyway Here's some screenshots to show you the problems.

Re-installing windows 7 on new SSD with no backup or disc

Hi,

My laptop (toshiba c660-1c6) recently crashed big time!
Won't boot at all, hdd seems to have died.

I am therefore looking at replacing it with a new ssd, but how will I be able to install windows 7 once I get this new ssd?
I don't have any backups or discs to use (I may be able to borrow a disc), only my win 7 product key on the underside of the laptop.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I would like to know on how to change my bios string or bios id

I have an Acer Aspire 5733z laptop. And I was just wondering if I can change my bios ID, if this even exists, or to change my bios string. But I am not so sure on how to do this. Because I have an Insyde bios, unfortunetly. And my bios is very limited in settings, which has no "Power" tab, and no "Advanced" tab. And I am very upset about this. But I really want these Power and Advanced tabs to show up in my Insyde bios. So please help me out here, I am asking you.

Because I was thinking of like downloading another Insyde bios from like an Acer Aspire 5742z model laptop, or an HP laptop Insyde bios, but I do not know if that is possible. So any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. That is all I want from you. So please get back to me as soon as you can on this. I would really like my Insyde bios to have a Power and Advanced tab a lot.

And also just let me know if I can change my bios ID, and or my bios string, so I can upgrade to a different bios for Insyde. I have a Insyde bios chip, so any bios should work. But it has to match with my Pentium dual-core processor, I am assuming. Which is what I have. So please get back to me soon with answers. Thank you very much!

Cant reinstall Windows 7

I'm trying to reinstall Windows 7 on my Asus Zenbook. I'm using a 16GB USB stick that I formatted to FAT32 and NTFS, neither worked. I also tried the following tools:

-Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool
-Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool
-WiNToBootic
-WinUSB Maker v2.0 PUBLIC BETA RELEASE 2
-Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.3.1

Nothing has worked. I also tried putting Ubuntu and even Active@ Killdisk to try and reformat. NOTHING WORKED!!!

If I don't put a USB in I get a Dos Error that says
"Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key".
Putting in a USB with Windows 7, it attempts to load the Windows files and then it goes to the Starting Windows screen where it just hangs and freezes.

Can anyone help??

The hard drive on my HP Netbook has apparently gone bad, and I can't reboot normally. It looks like I'll be using Safe Mode with Networking for whatever life this machine has left. Is there any way I can re-enable audio to have sound on the Internet, Skype, etc while in Safe Mode? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Java issues.

Haven't played Minecraft in a few months. When I tried to play it today, I got this message: "The registry refers to a nonexistant Java Runtime Environment instillation or the runtime is corrupt. The system cannot find the path specified." So I went to uninstall & reinstall it. Java 7 Update 17 uninstalls fine. I have both a Java 6 Update 26 & Update 31. Update 31 will not uninstall but 26 will.

When trying to uninstall J6U31, I get this: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the instillation package "jre 1.6.0_31-c-l.msi" in the box below." When exiting I get another box that says "The instillation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists & that you can access it."

I tried using JavaRa 2.1; Remove Java Runtime option says "no uninstaller found." Update Java Runtime hangs & freezes around 80%.

I can't find J6U31 in AppData/LocalLow/Sun/Java, so I imagine I need to manually remove some .dll so it stops showing up?

After reinstalling Java 7, I tried to reinstall Minecraft, but I still get that first message.

No ATA Channels / Burn problem (Driver Issue?) - Trying to enale DMA

Hi guys, when attempting to burn discs (specifically DVDs) it seems to take a ridiculously long time and CPU is suddenly 100%. My whole computer has been acting slow recently for that matter. After doing some research I'm almost certain the issue is that DMA mode has become disabled and needs to be re-enabled. That's all fine, but when I come to my decide manager and press properties under the 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' section, there is no 'advanced settings' tab like there should be* (and hence no way to enable DMA mode again).

*red arrow on screenshot belows shows where it appears for others.

It seems everyone else whose had this issue has fixed it by uninstalling an Intel Accelerator programme (or something similar) but I don't see to have anything like that.

My knowledge of all this isn't great, but I'm fairly certain that if I can get the advanced settings tab to appear, I'd be able to sort my issue and get my dvd drive and computer working properly again.

If there's any other information you need from me, please let me know.

I really appreciate your time.

Thanks.

Upgrading from Vista to Windows 7

Hi folks,

A while back I was working on home Vista PC....and all of a sudden it strook me that I really hated Vista.

Sooo... I replaced Vista with XP... However I could not find XP drivers for my PC.

The PC in question is ; http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...roduct=3356491

Anyway, seeing as XP was a no go I decided to put Vista back on. It was on the recovery drive... However.. this was no corrupted (even though I had installed XP on a different drive). So I borrowed a Vista disc from a mate assuming that I could use my original key to activate it, but it didn't work.

Please note that I only use original discs and legal product keys.

Which leaves me now thinking whether I should put Windows 7 on the PC? A friend of mine (who works in IT) says that Windows 7 will use the correct drivers needed for my pc. So... is it just a matter of inserting the disc, formatting the disc drive when promted and the putting 7 on?

Hope you can help!

dllhost.exe running every few seconds

$

Hello I'm new here. I registered because i have a problem i don't know how to fix. My problem is that since a few days ago dllhost.exe runs every few seconds for a second or two, then quits. It is not using up much resources or slowing down the system but it annoys me because every time it runs my cursor shifts to the cursor with the spinning ring besides the arrow. I have an idea that the cause of this must be one of the two games I installed through Steam prior to this behavior starting. That was Tomb Raider (2013) and Tomb Raider Underworld but I am not sure if any of those are actually the cause since this dllhost.exe program starts by itself some time after booting, even if I haven't run the games. I cannot think of any other changes i have made except install these games in the days prior to when this began happening. I have scanned for malware using both Microsoft's anti-virus and Spybot. Also I ran Nod32's online scan. Neither of which found any viruses or malware.

I am wondering what dllhost.exe is and what could be causing it to start up by itself. I know its a valid system component and not a problem in itself but I just want it to stop bugging me. Anyone have any advice on what to do about it?

why no 1680x1050 in win7?

i have mult op systems & have a strange problem where my video settings changed for no apparent reason after a reboot in xp (ati-radeon hd4770 graphics card, acer 22" lcd monitor).

In trying to get back to where I was I note win7-64 doesn't have 1680x1050 that's available in xp, it's highest is 1600x1200, whch is the wrong aspect ratio for the monitor & makes pics look stretched.

Anyone know why the higher res isn't available in win7, seems odd, I just updated my drivers in both systems (after the problem, not before).

Easy way to transfer programs installed on secondary HDD to new install?

Hi everyone,

Got another question I need help with. I have windows 7 installed on my computer, and my C drive has run out of space. I bought a newer SSD with more space, and I'm going to reinstall win7 on the new drive (its about time anyway). It's complicated because I have most of my programs installed on a secondary HDD, so the data will still be there, but is there any good way to get the systems program list to recognize this? Some way I can selectively transfer registry entries or something? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Any other ideas of what to do?

Computer won't shut down

I installed a new PSU (750W) and now I can't turn off my computer. I use the start menu and the power button and it always restarts. I hold the power button in and it just restarts. I have to turn the power off on the PSU to get it to turn off. What is wrong? I checked the settings and the power button is set to SHUT OFF.

Mouse and keyboard work fine in BIOS, but not in windows 7

Hey guys,
So I've been struggling with this problem all day, and there are many forums around the internet like this, but none are exactly like mine, and I've tried a lot of the troubleshooting options that seem to work for others but haven't fixed my problem. Firstly, I've recently put together a computer and everything works fine, even the keyboard and mouse work in BIOS. Now I've gone out and got my hands on an OEM copy of Windows 7 to install (buying the retail here is now close to impossible since Windows 8 was released a little while back) and now I've come home to install it, and I noticed during the installation I could only use my keyboard to enter details, mouse didn't work, so I had to tab, space and enter my way through. Until I come to enter the product key, keyboard is still fine, then I realize the odd key isn't working (without giving too much away, my H and 0 keys), which I find odd as all the others are. I end up skipping this part and finish the installation, to now where I try and connect to the internet, but putting in my isp password is impossible as it contains an H, and that key isn't working. I restart, unplug them both, plug them back in, and now I'm stuck at my loading screen, as now my keyboard and mouse have just stopping working entirely, which is odd as the light on the bottom of the mouse is on and so are various lights across my keyboard. After trying a few troubleshooting options (will mention below) I'm left wondering, hardware issue? (mouse/keyboard, mobo) or software issue (windows 7, drivers).

Long story short, brief timeline:
Computer is first built, working everything, keyboard and mouse are fine in BIOS.
Goes to install Windows 7 from OEM disc, notices mouse doesn't work, keyboard is fine, but later notices certain keys don't work (H and 0).
Follows it through, these keys still don't work in Windows 7, but mouse does.
Restarts comp, now they don't work in Windows 7 at all, but still work in BIOS

In terms of troubleshooting, I've tried, but hasn't fixed the problem:
rebooting, unplug and replug keyboard and mouse, disable and enable Legacy USB support in the BIOS, connect mouse through ps/2

My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H-WB WIFI, mouse and keyboard is under the Logitech G100 Gaming Combo (can't find individual model names).

Much thanks in advance for future responses! And happy to supply anymore info if needed!
