Allocating HD's apart from a raid 5 configuration

Hi there,

Since some time I use a raid 5 for my system disc consisting of 3 WD 300 Gb Velociraptors. The system menu at bootup (del) displays hence that sata drives will be allocated as raid devices. As common, the Intel Matrix Storage Manager and windows console controls all HD's within the Vista Ultimate x64 system. Now there are a few problems with this setup, for instance one of the Velociraptors went offline for 2 months, was standing by again last week, meanwhile the raid 5 array was 1 HD short so I had to let my Samsung 1 TB become the new array member. From the Intel Matrix Manager console, once in an array there are 0 actions that you may perform for a HD, so taking a HD out is no option.
Second problem I found after installing a new 3TB Seagate, it was reported as non allocated tough the Intel Console did display it as a non - array member.
Ok, getting the restored Velociraptor into the array, the action from the console only permits to chose between non-array member or spare array member, I solved this by simply disconnecting the Samsung HD so the system had to pull the third Velociraptor into the array again and make it an active array member.
The Seagate I could allocate as drive F through the discmanager, but, big disappointment, this program only sees it as a 750 Gig HD instead of the 3TB it actually is. Now is there any decent program to make me allocate and format it to its full size? I already installed the program form http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm but same problem here. The Intel console displayed a correct 3 TB before formatting and allocating the Seagate. Same problem will occur when I reconnect the Samsung 1 TB HD, I will need to allocate and format that also...hope someone has some clueas to this, kind regards,

Bram
