My computer has an issue where upon most start-ups, it will fail to start up properly and go into startup repair. After the startup repair is complete, the computer is restarted and boots up successfully; however, any files downloaded during the previous session are partially deleted (some files end up missing, often including the executable), and the recycle bin is refilled from having been cleared the day before.
The startup repair issue only seems to occur if the computer has been turned off for a relatively long time; restarting the computer shortly after turning it off works fine without error, and does not do the strange file deleting. In fact, restarting the computer once before powering down before I go to bed seems to prevent the startup repair from occurring in the morning on first start up.
About two months ago, the computer began telling me that my Windows installation was not legitimate, and reentering the code was not working; after calling a Windows representative, I was advised to reinstall Windows 7. I did this reinstallation and cleared everything (the entire hard drive was wiped; the only thing I backed up was the documents folder) and the Windows verification issue was fixed, but the startup repair issue still persists.
I have tried several security scans with Windows Essentials and Malwarebites, which tell me there are no security risks. I have also checked cord connections inside the computer, and they are all fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
