My computer ran fine this morning but I noticed it had an update to install when I powered it down. This is the same update that has failed twice in the last two days. This evening when I go to start it, I get a black screen after login and an error telling me windows explorer has stopped working. I checked around the forums and saw two solutions were memory check and use task manager.
I tried pulling out each individual stick of ram but I still get the black screen. I can not get into task manager, each time I hit control+alt+delete it gives me an explorer error. I also tried a windows 7 rescue disk but it did not find any startup issues.
I have an older backup of the drive but would rather fix it if possible. I have several programs and files I did not back up yet (I know, I'm a dork). Any ideas?
