Windows 7 won't shut down, leading to other problems.

Hello all.

So I've been googling solutions to a problem which has recently occurred on my computer - but seemingly to no avail.

Essentially last Thursday my computer crashed while playing a game - this has then seemed to cause other problems such as unresponsive programs or programs which don't even start up at all (but show up in task manager's processes and can't be ended). I suppose these unresponsive tasks have then stopped the system being able to close down at all - at one point I shut the computer down at night and came back the next morning to still be told "Shutting Down". Being that it's been left at shutting down for over 8 hours or so I turn it off by using the power on/off button on the laptop's casing - causing the option to enter "Safe Mode" when next turning the computer on.

Over the weekend I was completely unable to use the computer in anything other than safe mode - if I tried to start up any program it would create a task but nothing would ever become of it - just a constant loading symbol on the mouse cursor. However in Safe Mode the computer works fine and is able to shut down. I went through the "Find an Fix Problems" on the control panel after using system restore several times to no avail. The Find and Fix problems suggested removing unnecessary startup tasks so I disabled all of them but a few and now most programs seem to work (though currently I have the event log manager in a state of limbo not being able to be closed down). In addition the computer still won't shut down properly. I know you shouldn't turn it off manually but there's literally no other option.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was any way to fix this - I'm glad my computer works again but I'm wondering if I'm doing more harm than good by using it in this state?

This is some system information (if it's useful)

Thanks in advance!

P.S. If the computer stops working again, I'll check this from my iPhone.
