Please note this is pulled and edited from my question on yahoo answers which has proved to be utterly useless to provide me with any decent help.
I will also say I'm pretty bad when it comes to computers so if any answers could be done in the way you explain stuff to a child that would be great as I will get lost with technical speak.
Right here's my problem this has happened over a few days and I've lost count of the things I've tried but it should be in order of whats happened.
For the last few days my computer has periodically stopped opening new internet browser (chrome) tabs and after this starts happening it also won't open any applications either until it is restarted.
If I try to open the browser again or any application I can see in the task manager the RAM use creeping up slowly until it opens but then whatever opened crashes or stops responding.
It is also very slow to shut down or restart when this happens.
After trying many different things I have managed to install Firefox and delete Chrome and now the internet is stable and no longer crashing/not responding but it seems other problems have arisen.
The biggest problem I can find at the moment is whenever I click on a application it will take a very long time to load 5mins plus the same goes for anything like the task manager or the volume controls, network and sharing center est.
It is also still slow at shutting down and takes about 3-4 mins to boot up fully if that is helpful info.
So far I've done the following things to try and fix it both before and after I got the internet working.
Made sure everything is up to date.
Run a full computer and critical area scan with the paid version of Kaspersky internet security 2011.
Run a full scan with Malwear bites.
Run a full scan with Spybot search and destroy.
(All have come up clean)
Run the registry and internet cleaner in Ccleaner.
Defragged my hard drives 0% fragmentation using windows built in defragger.
Uninstalled all programs except my antivirus and malwear stuff.
I've run a system restore point for last week and updated everything and re run the scans and still it continues.
I have run antivirus and malwear scans in safe mode and all have come up clean.
At this point I've been told the best bet would be to wipe my hard drives and re install windows but I would like someone else's opinion on the subject as I don't really have the money at the moment to call the tech out and would prefer a repair I could do myself.
Also apart from that being a daunting process for one of my computing skill (a boiled cabbage would be better) when I bought this PC from the local tech guys I was given neither the Windows 7 insterlation CD or the activation key for Windows 7 (it's located no where on the pc or in the paperwork)
So far I have managed to find the key using Belarc (I think) and one of my friends is letting me borrow a flash drive with a copy of Windows 7 on it (don't know if this will work though)
My system is.
Windows 7 64 bit ultimate
MSI P55-GD65 Motherboard
Intel core i7 cpu 2.8GHz stock (never overclocked)
6GB DDR3 RAM (dunno what type maybe corsair)
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB (never overclocked)
1 250gb WD Hard drive
1 500gb WD Hard drive (both sound fine and make no strange noises)
So does anyone know what it could be and a way to fix it.
Thanks in advance.
