I'm having some issues with Java updates at the moment. We need to use Java 6_35 for our Oracle Apps at work. However it seems that on the Windows 7 machines unticking the update box does nothing. As soon as you close the Java control panel and go back in its reverted to always check. That was using the 32bit installer so i tried adding the 64bit on top (where applicable of course) and noticed the update tab is gone. Sadly the updates aren't and it keeps insisting on installing 7_17 which we don't want.
Are Oracle now forcing regardless of your settings in the control panel an update to the latest version? Its getting incredibly frustrating that 60% of time is spent installing and uninstalling Java in our UK office.
