Windows 7 will not boot

Hardware: Macbook Pro 15 (early 2011)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64x SP1 running via Bootcamp 5

I ran this copy of Windows on my old Dell laptop for almost 2 years with zero issues.
After using it on this Macbook for about a week, it suddenly wouldn't boot.

- Turn on, just sits on a black screen forever.
- Restart, gives that error "Windows failed to boot due to a recent software/hardware change" blablabla
- Run startup repair, nothing fixed.
- Run it again, the issue is something like cannot find OS Loader.
- Tried to use Bootrec.exe to fix/replace the file according to the instructions on Microsoft's website but all I got was a screen saying Windows 7 wouldn't boot due to software/hardware change press ENTER to continue (leads back to same screen); press F8 for boot options (does nothing); press esc to exit (does nothing).

I ended up completely reinstalling Windows 7 and it worked for a couple of days til this morning when it sat on the black screen again. Somehow, this time I was able to restore to an earlier point (didn't work before), so the OS is currently operational. However I would really like to find the cause/solution to this problem so it doesn't happen again!

Any suggestions?? I think Windows said one of the files in the registry was broken but what's causing this file, critical to the boot operation, to randomly go and die ??
Could I have installed something nasty? :frown:

Thanks !!
