hi all, recently my computer has started freezing 100 percent of the time when i open anything in photoshop, photo gallery, and even zune (not spotify or other similar programs though). The effects are always the same with the screen flickering immediately upon launch of said program followed by a total crash before an image can be seen. (Ironically, i can still open images on ms paint and even corel painter, which is generally more taxing on my system than photoshop). I also sometimes experience other crashes such as (sometimes) while watching web videos or loading an account besides my main vista account.
None of this happens in safe mode, and I've narrowed it down to know that it also doesn't happen when I disable my gpu from the device manager menu. I have tried running a clean boot, and at first that solved my problem. I disabled everything then re-enabled it, and for about a day everything worked fine again, until it didn't. Like the first time, it all started with the picture getting warped and the color turning very green and purple, followed, of course, by a crash.
I've tried reinstalling the video card driver, scanning for viruses, running the bios memory test (I think that's what it's called), and probably some other steps I'm forgetting. I'm a visual artist who relies heavily on his computer and this is taking a very harsh toll on every aspect of my life right now.
Here are my specs: MS windows vista home premium 32-bit, service pack 1. Intel core2 duo cpu T7700 @ 2.40GHz, 2.0GB RAM, nvidia geforce 8600mgt
I should also mention that I've tried disabling the video card, running the trouble programs, and then reactivating it. Photo gallery works fine then (so long as I don't open or close anything else, and the other work as long as I don't ask them to perform any tasks.
