Computer won't boot!

I have seen lots of posts about this but nothing that has fixed it for me. People on this site helped me greatly with a previous issue so here goes :)

I have a dell inspiron 1525 which is on windows vista. It suddenly crashed the other day, and now won't boot. It was initially stuck on the Microsoft corporation screen but now a blue screen flashes up briefly before it goes back to the start. The error code on the blue screen begins with "stop 0x00000024."

It won't boot into safe mode. I have tried all of the repair options including attempting system restore and the system repair, using the original installation disk and also without. Nothing works. I have also used chkdsk, I have ran a check on all the drives and used /r and /f and it says there are no problems unbelievably.

The first time I ran chkdsk from the cd and did c: /f /r the computer actually booted again. Thought it was fixed but still made a system restore point while I was able. But the second it was switched off it wouldn't boot back again. I ran chkdsk c: /f /r again and it worked again so I thought "right I just won't switch it off again" but my daughter accidentally turned it off. Now this option doesn't work either.

When I attempt the system restore it tells me that there are errors on c: and I have to run a disk check before I can restore. So I tick the option to do that, and it runs the check and tells me there are no errors!

Any ideas? I really don't want to have to reinstall vista as I have a lot of stuff I don't want to lose, so any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm kind of panicking as I have a uni assignment due in 10 days and I need my computer :(

Thank you, Lisa x
