I have a Gateway MT6841 laptop with a 160 GB HDD, Intel 945G chipset, and Centrino Duo Processor. When I turn the laptop on BIOS runs properly and the Windows load screen comes up then it comes to a black screen with my white cursor and hangs there. I have tried using Windows recovery environment to do a full factory restore. I wait for the BIOS and press F8 then after I select Repair my computer it hangs also...it shows the windows load screen then nothing but a black screen....I have good reason to believe the HDD is ruined but I'm hoping for some more suggestions.
I do have the Vista disc that came with the laptop and a disc of drivers that Gateway provided. If possible I was hoping I could hook the HDD to my desktop, Load its drivers and do full restore that way but Im not sure it is possible with the laptop HDD set as a slave drive...If thats even possible
