My laptop is working very slowly.

Hi, so i own a hp pavilion dv6 laptop for about more than a year now. I use it to play games and all very often. About 3 days ago i came home from my class and turn on my laptop to find it getting a bsod. Long story short i've tried system restore and other stuff and they didn't work, so i had to reinstall windows 7. The problem now is that my laptop is working very slowly, i have tried to do chkdsk /r but it seemed to ahave stuck on stage 4 at 10% completion (58715 out of 14xxxx) for about 8 hours. I tried to restart it and redo the thing and it is still stuck at that number. Is there any other option that i can do to fix my slow laptop or do i have to try and do the chkdsk /r process again??
