Connected - but with no access to Internet

This keeps happening: my girlfriend's laptop, both at her house and at mine, comes up with "conectado - sin acceso a Internet" (connected, no access to Internet).

What can we do about this? how can it be connected but have no access to the internet?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
