Hi guys, hope someone can help me.
A few years ago I made a backup of my parents e-mails and placed them on their portable hard drive. I made sure to test and make sure these backups worked, which they did, with it being a simple case of importing the backups into their e-mail client. I believe the original backups were from Microsoft Outlook, and I can recall importing them into a Thunderbird client with no problems.
Now my parents are looking for an old e-mail from back then (2010) and no e-mail clients seem to be able to import the files anymore. When I locate them on the portable hard drive, I've found the Inbox file I believe i'm looking for on the portable hard drive, but its file type is simply listed as FILE and has no program associated with it.
I've tried using both Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird's Importing tools but they fail to locate any sign of anything even remotely mail related on the hard drive. I tried setting Thunderbird as the program to open it, which turned it into a .PST file, however this still didn't work.
The laptop the backup was taken from was running Windows 7, as is the new one.
There's a screenshot attached to this post which shows the Inbox file i'm trying to open as a PST, however it's clear there's something contained in this file given the large file size. As you can see some of the other folders there such as the Drafts folder are also of the 'File' file type.
Any help opening these files will be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
