Boot from disc - blank screen with mouse

Hi guys,

Just wondering if any of you guys have got any idea whats happening here;

I've just upgraded my pc with a new mobo and processor the spec is;

Cpu is a 4670k
Mobo is an asus z87-c

Existing psu is an ocz 600w
Gpu is existing radeon hd 5850
Ram is exsisting ddr3 1333 kingston hyper x

I was running vista on a 1tb sata hdd on my old system. Swapped mobo and cpu.

Everytime i boot it boots straight to Bios. everything is detected ok. When trying to boot from the official windows vista 64bit oem dvd it says booting from disc, it then says windows is loading files. I then see the windows logo and loading then the screen goes blank with a cursor.

I thought this might be hardware but I have managed to install abuntu by loading the trial from the disc then installing. It since boots ubuntu fine from the partion i created. I've just tried installing the disc again to no avail.

I understand the OEM copy is linked to the motherboard but surely this would let me install the version of windows but not validate the install once complete. I'm so confused.
