As stated in the title, I've just recently started to have a problem where my 2 year old ASUS laptop randomly starts to get screen tearing across the bottom of my monitor, then the screen locks up and proceeds to become gray streaked with color.
This is the gray screen, I haven't taken a picture of the tearing yet...but it seems pretty classic. Everything streaks.
The odd part is it will work for a long stretch of time particularly when there is low demand on the system but randomly break up again. After the scree goes like this, sometimes a simply shut and open of the screen will bring it back, while other times a full reboot is needed to unlock the screen.
I ran a registry cleaner and Malwarebytes to make sure things aren't messing up on the software side (defraging at some point tonight, see if it lasts long enough to finish the operation). Now my only worry is that it's some sort of hardware problem my recently expired 2 year warranty won't cover. I popped open the hood to check on my RAM, but it all seems to be in place, and I am am extremely reluctant to dig around the case myself.
If the dxdiag would help I would be more than willing to provide it, but in simpler detail its an i5 @ 2.3ghz, 6gb ram, and a Geforce GT 520M paired with some crap onboard Intel graphics processor.
If anyone has certainty about what this issue might be, I would be more than grateful to hear it.
