Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me with an error I'm getting when trying to update Windows Vista. It always says update failed, and gives me the error 80070490. I tried whatever solutions I found online, and so far none worked. I've tried the System Update Readiness tool, renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder, the Microsoft Fixit tool, and I did the manual fixing process as shown here: How do I reset Windows Update components?
An upgrade/repair install also didn't work, as for some reason whenever going through the process, loading up the cd, and clicking to install, I never get the option for an upgrade... it just goes ahead and starts to install over my current Vista installation. I read uninstalling a service pack might help (I have both installed), but they just don't even show up in the list where they should, for uninstallation. I tried other Vista disks, all for Home Premium x64 like my computer, and nothing worked.
Any other ideas? I really hope someone can help me out here... thanks in advance!
