I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this specific problem, but here goes.
My computer has been working like a dream for a few years now, but very recently turned off by itself.
I immediately thought it might be overheating, so I cleaned it up real well with compressed air and there was a lot of dust.
I thought the problem was fixed but after about 30 minutes it shut off again.
I removed the heatsink for my cpu and reattached it. After 30 minutes it shut off again. The fan looks a little wobbly, but since it might be my perception I downloaded Speedfan to keep track of the temperatures. I have an i7 CPU not overclocked running at 2.66 ghz and its barely used at that, its temperature didn't go beyond 50 max. and stayed mostly in the 40-45 range.
My gpu is a GTX 480, which was at about 50 max but 45-50. I tracked the temperatures for a while and it stayed there but then shut off anyway.
The thing is everytime it shuts off, it immediately restarts, and slowly but surely it becomes more frequent until it gets stuck on a Shut off Restart, Start Windows, Shut off restart, BIOS stuff, shut off restart BIOS stuff loop.
I'm not sure what it could be, can anyone help?
Edit: It's not exactly 30 minutes, but that's about how long it feels it's more like 20-40 minutes before it shuts off.
