Errors 0xc000098 and 0xc000001

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2. I had a Windows update and after the restart I started getting the ntkrnlpa.exe 0xc000098 error or the 0xc000001, an unexpected error has occurred.

I was going to run the system repair from the Vista CD, but before it gets to that option, I get the 0xc000098 error. I cannot get into safe mode as it will reboot while loading files and I am back where I started.

Removed the hard drive and put it in USB enclosure, connected it to my laptop and reformatted it. Still getting the same errors and problems, and cannot reinstall Vista.

Removed the hard drive again and replaced it with another hard drive with the same OS and it would not boot either. I tried to reinstall Vista on that drive, but still get the same errors. I've run utilities tocheck the memory and both hard drives, but I just cannot reinstall Vista on either hard drive.

I am completely stumped...
