[SOLVED] Display and icons disappear and then appear again

So the desktop background and icons on my laptop disappear and there just a black screen. sometimes it's a blurry white screen that just says Asus in the middle. I don't know what it could be. Any help would be thankful

I have Asus x83v that's running windows vista and intel centrino and nvidia GeForce 9300m GS 512 mb
