Java problems

I have a user that needs to run Java 6u7, it's installed on her system. She accidentally installed Java 7. I was uninstalling 7 when it erred and quit. Uninstall didn't work for it anymore, so I ran the MS Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, this seemed to have removed the installation that had a problem. To be clean I also removed Java 6u7 and reinstalled it. IE and Firefox both think still that there is no Java installed on the system, even though it's clearly there and visible in the add remove programs. Reinstalled 7, then removed it. Java Test page now sees that there is an old version installed but cannot launch it.

This is all because our instance of Oracle require Jave 6u7, otherwise I would have no issue instaliong the newest version.
