For years I have been running Windows XP on my desktop PC and my monitor is an LG Flat Screen LED W86 Series one. The current resolution that I have set is 1600 x 900 and I find it to be the ideal resolution for me.
However recently I also purchased a Dell Latitude E5420 laptop running Windows 7. I connected it to my monitor and here is the problem:
-As long as the lid of the laptop is open, the maximum resolution that I can get is 1366 x 768. This makes everything appear too large on my LED screen.
-As soon as I close the lid of my laptop (I have set it to neither shut down nor sleep when I do that), the resolution automatically changes to 1920 x 1080. Now everything appears too small. If I lower the resolution to the next two options, everything gets stretched out horizontally. There is no option for 1600 x 900.
So my question is: How do I set my screen resolution to 1600 x 900 on Windows 7?
P.S: I have already updated all the drivers and it didn't help. I have also tried every cable possible (VGA, DVI,HDMI).
