Keyboard Key Settings

ASUS X54H laptop with win 7 home, some keyboard keys have gone awry, examples - @ is "- # is £ - backslash is # - and so on. Is there a way of restoring the original settings, have tried updating the driver but nothing seems to work. It started with only one or two keys but is spreading.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
