Hi there,
I'm having an odd issue that I'd like to bring up. I have a Samsung R780 laptop, roughly four years old, running Windows 7. Works very well. It's a fantastic laptop. Lately I've noticed that every day my HD space will decrease by roughly 100Mb for no apparent reason. Let me make it clear that I'm a fairly computer savvy person. I try and take excellent care my of computer. Yes I delete my recycle bin, yes I run full system scans using Avast anti-virus every week, I defrag my computer every week and I run disk cleanup every week etc. but to no avail. I have been purposefully refraining myself from downloading anything in order to monitor my HD space and it is still decreasing by roughly 100Mb a day.
Not only that, but something even more strange has begun to happen. I have run Disk cleanup in the past and I have deleted over a gig of information. Afterwards, when I check my HD space, the total amount of space has decreased even more. And just to be clear, I am not confusing the amount of free space left on my HD with the amount of space being used. I don't have it backwards : p To test what the heck was going on, I even uninstalled a couple Steam games which added to about 10 Gigs of information. Upon uninstallation, my free HD space did not change at all. Upon reintallation, my free HD space actually increased by about 5-6 Gigs.
This is just really damn confusing for me and I honestly have no idea what's going on here. With respect to my second issue, it seems like my computer is either falsely telling me how much free space I have, or the files arn't getting deleted or something? And why does my free HD space increase upon reinstallation? I'm really quite confused. My first issue concerning the slow loss of free space may be more...answerable...but I'm just totally lost concerning my second issue. Anyway, if anyone has any idea as to what's going on, that'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
