insert boot disk and press any key - HP Notebook

Hi,

My friends has been trying to boot up and the message "insert boot disk and press any key" keeps coming up and there is nothing he can do about it.

We tried f10 and going into system bios but cannot find anything in there which may aid us, however, there may be something of use which we don't know about.
