Help installing Windows 7 on new hdd

I had to replace my internal hdd since it failed. Bought this one from amazon:
Amazon.com: WD Black 320 GB Mobile Hard Drive: 2.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA II, 16 MB Cache, 5 Year Warranty - WD3200BEKT: Computers & Accessories

This is the laptop I am installing it on: Asus k52jc.

Specs from asus's website
K52JC - Notebooks & Ultrabooks - ASUS

I am trying to install windows 7 home premium 64 bit onto the new hard drive. I created a bootable usb but am getting the following errors:

- No Drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation.
- To install the device driver needed to access your hard drive, insert the installation media containing the driver files.
- No signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers.

I know this is a common problem and I've searched and really can't find a solution.

Other notes-
The hdd does appear in bios
I used my asus recovery disks. Thought it would help, unsure if it did or it is affecting this install

Thanks and any help is appreciated.
