Computer Stuck at "Starting Windows" Screen

I have windows 7 Home. I restarted my computer to complete an automatic update. After doing so, My computer would remain on the "starting windows" screen for hours.

Overnight, It did load up. However, when it did the was a message at the bottom right hand side of my screen that read: "This version of windows in not genuine" right above the time and date. I also could not click on the start up menu or anything on the task bar. The sound also was not working. There was a red and white "x" by my volume icon.

I had to press the power button on my SONY Vaio (my laptop computer). I loaded from the restore option (this was an option when the computer loaded back up. The other option was to start windows normally.). It did a test and restarted and remained at the same starting windows screen.

I then loaded the computer in safe mode. I tried to restore my computer to a certain date in System restore, but it told me that I did not have a point to start from. I scanned for viruses and etc. and found 1 threat then deleted it.

I am now starting in safe mode with network to see if this allows me to connect to the internet and maybe allow me to do system restore. It's moving very slow right now.

Later today, I plan to obtain a Windows 7 disk to wipe it completely. I do not want to do this, but at this point I Don't Know what to do. Please help me of you have another option.

Thanks
A.J. Sellers
