What have I done?
- I build a new PC from scratch which includes a SSD (C DRIVE) and a regular HDD (W DRIVE).
- I installed this onto the SDD so far: Windows 7, drivers, PC Hardware's software (e.g. overclocking software), and programs that will be used all the time (e.g. Adobe reader / Adobe Flash / Java / Virus Program)
- I changed the library and desktop to the W DRIVE. Meaning My Documents, My Music, My Video, Desktop and Downloads folders are directly linked to the W drive rather than the C drive. This was done manually by creating folders in the W drive and linking them to the W drive.
Then what?
-I wanted to change the default saving directory from C:\Program Files to W:\Program Files, so i followed these steps in the registry.
What's the problem?
All the shortcuts to the programs on my desktop, start menu and shortcut bar no longer function. An error says that "W:\Program Files\XXX.exe" doesn't exist. Which makes perfect sense because these programs (e.g. overclocking software or Virus Program links) are installed in the C drive.
I plan to install future programs onto the W drive (regular HDD), these programs that I had mentioned above are on the SDD (C drive) where Windows is installed.
Note 1: Everything on the computer works flawlessly, just these links are giving an issue.
Thanks in advance!
