I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop 1545 that belongs to a friend of mine and it wont get past the white flashing cursor. I've tried everything I could think of to get this thing to boot up. I looked up on here and seen where a similar problem had occurred and the problem was the partition wasn't set right. I tried to set the partition using and old Windows PE disk I have, since I don't have a windows 7 disk or a recovery disk. (It was the only way I could get it to boot up) But I was able to bring up the command prompt and set an active partition. But alas trhis was not the problem. I can see all the files and they are intact. I've even been able to remove and replace file on the HDD so I know it's not a Hardware issue.
I'm downloading a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit now and see if I can boot from it. It's about the only thing I haven't tried. Any suggestions?
