Hello! My name is Adam Ganong, I am an audio engineer. I have a DELL XPS 8300,and I recently installed an samsung 840 EVO SSD drive into it. I have my OS on the solid state, and then I store any of my large files on to my HDR.
Before I made the switch I downloaded all the drivers from DELL's website, and installed all the ones I needed when I started running of the SSD. Everything seemed alright at first, but now I've noticed that there is a slew of programs, that when I try and open them, they simply do not work! When I try and open catalyst control centre, it typically crashes, when I try and play a video off of WMP it crashes, When I try and open Diablo 3, it crashes. I have a mix of programs on both my SSD, and on my HDR that won't run, and both hard drives also have programs that will run.
The big problem here is that my Audio software Cubase 7, will not import videos, that is the biggest thing I am concerned with, but I feel like most of these problems are linked.
I'm not sure what I did wrong to make this mess up! I obviously did something wrong, or have neglected to instal something somehow... I've also had no luck troubleshooting it on my own, and I couldn't find any similar situations online. Any advice or tip would be appreciated!
Other useful info
I am running a slightly older version of Catalyst control centre ( 12.10) here is a bizarre circumstance where it causes problems wth my audio software, the problems were around before I downgraded to the older version though
When trying to run Diablo it comes up with an error message that says "Error while writing to disk" this would typically happen when a hard drive is full, but mine is definitley not (This is installed on the HDR by the way)
When attempting to import audio into cubase it says "the service for decoding video stopped working"
Any info would help! Even if someone could point me in the right direction of what my problem is!
