Using HP Compaq dc5700 Minitower, running Windows Vista Business, Svc. Pack 2. Boot time was quite reasonable (approx 1 min or less). Then I acquired an HP C7280 printer/copier/scanner/fax, and downloaded and installed the HP Full Featured software package for this printer (I chose the Full Featured pkg. to get HP Solutions Center with its scanner control). It installed OK and the printer works fine, but now the boot time has gotten ridiculously slow - 3 to 4 minutes. Nothing else was added or changed except for the HP software, so that must be the culprit. Does anyone have suggestions on how to improve this situation? For example, do I need HP Photosmart Essentials to be loaded at startup, or if I disabled/removed it, would HP Solutions still function, and would I really gain anything in boot time? Other possibilities for keeping the printer functionality while improving boot time would be appreciated.
