I have a probably not so unique question, but for some reason I couldn't find a thread about it previously.
Here is a little bit of hardware information before we begin:
I have two acer monitors, and two different displays types I want to use (DVI, VGA), but for some reason one of the acer monitors isn't being detected in windows.
I have a Radeon 6670 card with display port, hdmi, and dvi output capabilities. My motherboard has the vga port on it.
My processor is an AMD Athlon x2 245 Dual Core.
Here is my question.
I want to be able to use both of my displays. When I plug one of my monitors into the DVI slot on my card, it works perfectly fine, but the monitor that is plugged into my motherboard will never pick up a signal. I checked in device manager to see if there were any hardware changes, and I even looked on the AMD website to see if there was a graphics driver for my processor I needed to pick up.
I've unplugged both monitors and switched them up, both work fine individually. For some reason the VGA port that I assume connects to my motherboard will not push out a signal. When there is no graphics card plugged in though, it works.
I'm trying to make this work. I didn't think it would be this difficult, and I consider myself to be slightly above beginner in terms of knowledge. I went into BIOS and even set the primary display type to integrated just to see if it would change something, it didn't.
In device manager the only display adapter that shows up is the display adapter for my 6670 graphics card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've fiddled around with a few different settings in bios, all to no avail. My CPU is not overclocked, and I have confidence to do just about anything you suggest. (Except for going out and buying another cable ;] )
Thank you,
Mat
