Sound/Video playback stops

Hello, this is my first post, I hope this is in the correct place.

I recently encountered a problem where my computer stops playing audio files, videos, streaming online, after a few seconds of playback.

I hit play, playback for a random amount of time, usually between 3-20 seconds, and it stops and requires me to hit play again.

Here is what I have attempted so far:

- Reinstalling all hardware drivers
- Reinstalling Windows 7 using the disc.
- Motherboard Soundcard, and my M-Audio Profire 2626 Audio card both do it.
-Searched for similar problems, no results for me.

Cyberpower PC, ordered from Tigerdirect.

Intel i7 2600 3.4 Ghz
Gigabyte z68AP-D3 motherboard
Internal 7200 RPM drive, 1tb
8 GB RAM, DDR 3
AMD Radeon HD 6800 series


Can anyone please help? I am an audio engineer and my life and work revolves around audio.
