Computer Crashes Randomly When Surfing the Net

As the title suggests, my computer will sometimes completely freeze up when I'm searching the net. I find it a lot when viewing political election maps, so I think it might have something to do with images/charts, but I'm not very tech savvy. Here are two URL's that recently crashed my computer:

Living In Manhattan Versus Brooklyn | Thought Catalog

Google Image Result for http://8gramgorilla.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/googleplus-big.jpg

It will start freezing by not letting me click on anything in the browser and then my mouse will stop working. My music keeps playing, though. This takes 10 seconds or so, and the only way to get out of it is to hold the power button.

I also have an on and off problem with accessing Facebook and Google. Every 30 minutes to an hour or so I won't be able to access them (happens to both at the same time) for a few minutes. I'll just get the page not displayed error, but I can go to any other site.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and Google Chrome. I recall this happening on Firefox as well, but I could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
