Hello everybody, i have a problem to solve that has confused me, the IT staff here, and anybody else that takes a look at it.
Recently, the NIC on my Asus M4A78T-e Motherboard fried itself and ceased to work properly, so i installed an old wireless card i had, in hopes of getting internet on my PC, however, to my dismay, when installing the wireless card, i could install drivers, but in the device manager, the properties for the wireless card say that windows cannot load the drivers for the device, with the error code 31. This is strange because the card worked before on the same installation of windows. I knew i would need wired ethernet anyway so i ordered a PCIe ethernet NIC. When it arrived, i followed the instructions in installing the card, installing the drivers, and rebooting, however, i received exactly the same results as with the wireless card. Ive tried everything, manually deleting the drivers, downloading new drivers from Realtek's website, repeated the process in safe mode, numerus times. Nothing seems to work properly. When i uninstall the drivers, windows tries to install it's own drivers, and it says it fails to. I've tried disabling automatic updates and whatnot so that windows dosent try to install drivers itself, and installed them from the disk, to no avail. I seem to remember having a similar problem with the wireless card once long ago, but i've tried everything i remember i did to get the card to work, and it always fails. I know the new wired ethernet card works because it works in Backtrack 5, Ubuntu 12.04, and Kubuntu 12.04, at this point, I really don't know what do do about it, so anybody who might know whats wrong, feel free to speak up, i'm open to anything!
