I am having the BSOD that says "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
Technical Information: STOP: 0x0000000A (0x0000000000010DC, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xFFFF8002CC30c5)
It happens in both safe mode and normal, but I can keep the computer on longer between crashes if I am in safe mode.
Here's a history of what happened and what I have tried:
1. Did Kodak printer update
2. Hooked a Creative Zen V Plus MP3 Player to the computer (can't remember if I did 1 before 2 or 2 before 1)
3. Got BSOD
4. Tried to reboot and got Kodak printer driver error and another BSOD
5. Figured it was the update that did it, so I uninstalled the printer, figuring I could just reinstall it later and just wouldn't update it
6. Still got BSOD
7. Decided to try system restore to before I updated printer (to be safe, I set it for two days earlier). Still got BSOD
8. Thought maybe a student sent me a virus. I used Microsoft Defender offline bootable CD. Found a trojan. Removed it.
9. Ran scan again and trojan was still there. Removed it again.
10. Used AVG Rescue disk and found adware. Removed it.
11. Ran chkdsk. Problems were found and fixed.
12. Uninstalled programs that I didn't need.
13. Deleted temporary files.
14. Was able to keep computer up long enough in safe mode to run AVIRA Premium 2012. No viruses found now.
15. Just to be sure, I re-ran Microsoft Defender. This time, no trojan was found.
16. Re-ran chkdsk. No problems found.
I don't have a Windows 7 disk because it came preinstalled on my computer.
The motherboard and RAM were replaced less than a year ago.
This problem just started a few days ago.
Don't know if it matters, but I thought you should know that it never crashes when it is using the bootable CDs or during Chkdsk. It only crashes when it is in Windows.
As you can see, I have tried a lot of things, but now I am not sure what to do next. I have a ton of data on this computer that I can't back up unless I go out and buy an external harddrive, which I wouldn't want to take the chance of infecting it too if there are still viruses that just aren't being found.
Short of taking it into a repair shop and having them migrate all my data (which took 2 days last time) and having them completely reinstall Windows, I don't know what to do.
I am not computer dumb, but I'm not computer savvy either. If you give me step by step instructions, I can follow them, but otherwise, I might not have a clue what you're talking about. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me.
Here's my system information:
AMD Athlon II x4 630 Processor 2.81 GHz
