Hello and many thanks for taking time to view this thread and I would like to thank anyone that takes the time to help me with this very very annoying problem.
I am running Vista OS, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1710
I cannot use the touch pad pointer due to having restricted use of my arm so the mouse is extremely important to me.
My mouse optical sensor stopped working altogether, so I brought a new HP mouse and guess what, the mouse buttons and scrolling wheel work but the optical red sensor light wont work. This is the 3rd mouse so obviously the system or something.
I have checked the mouse drivers are up to date but at a complete loss now if someone can please help.
